The Town & Country Diner in Lockeport has opened its doors Thursday after extensive renovations of the restaurant once known as Atwell’s.
Gary and Vonda Thompson are the new owners of the restaurant located in the heart of the seaside community and have been working hard for opening day.
The interior is hardly recognizable from its previous state and now boasts a country charm creating a pleasant background for an enjoyable dining experience.
This will be the first restaurant operations experience for the Thompson’s and when asked what made them take the leap Vonda quickly replies with a laugh, “I blame this all on Gary.”
The couple have lived in the Lockeport area throughout their lives and see the restaurant as a place where friends and neighbours will gather.
The entire restaurant has been reworked to include new flooring, hand-built and designed booth seating in one section and an array of glass-topped, gingham-clad dining tables in the other complete with matching curtain tops allowing the bright sunshine to spill through.
The entire interior has been ripped down and rebuilt to give a clean, fresh look to the space.
The day before opening Gary is cooking up his famous seafood chowder…a dish chocked full of lobster, clams and other treasures of the sea sure to please the most discerning taste buds.
Another specialty of the new diner is their fish and chips, making the restaurant a perfect location to enjoy your meal inside or beside the crashing waves at Crescent Beach located only a stones throw away.
Most of the favourite’s of Atwell’s are being adopted by the Town & Country diner including their array of hot and cold sandwiches and fries and piping hot pizza for eat-in, take-out or delivery which is free for those within the town’s limits.
Breakfast will be served daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will include a $3.99 special as well as other tempting, early morning pleasers.
The Town & Country Diner will be having an array of daily and weekly specials that will pick from the freshest foods of the changing seasons.
The quaint and lovely town of Lockeport will have a gathering place to go to again with the restaurants opening.
The town supports the newest endevour and Mayor Darian Huskilson says, “I’m happy they have invested in Lockeport and wish them all the support and success in the world.”
