Sad to be leaving 'home'
Letter to the Yarmouth Vanguard
I would like to take this opportunity to express my true feelings and how they reflect my time spent in Yarmouth. It is with mixed emotion that I am transferring from the RCMP Yarmouth Town to that of my home province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
I arrived in Yarmouth as a newly engaged member in February of 2003. Yarmouth being my first post with the RCMP brought with it many new challenges and experiences as I had begun my career with the RCMP.
I could not have been happier with the relationship that I developed with the people of Yarmouth and Yarmouth County over my four years as a police officer and citizen of the town of Yarmouth. From my arrival the people of Yarmouth County opened their homes and families to me and my wife. Before long we both felt as though Yarmouth was not a posting within the RCMP, but our home.
Upon the announcement of my transfer I was enthused about the opportunity to return to my home province but saddened as I was leaving my new home.
I have many fond memories of my time spent in Yarmouth and friendships that will remain life-long. To the people of Yarmouth and Yarmouth County, I cannot express enough my sincere thanks to all those whom I had the pleasure of working with and living amongst during my time spent in Yarmouth.
As my career unfolds I am certain that many more transfers will be on the horizon, but I shall never forget my experiences from my time spent in Yarmouth.
