Treat ATVs like all motor vehicles
Letter to the Yarmouth Vanguard
In the last issue of the Vanguard David Hall promotes his desire to drive an ATV in Yarmouth. I would fully support his desire... if ATVs were treated exactly like all other motor vehicles in this province.
I see absolutely no difference between an ATV and a motorcycle, however it is considerably harder and more expensive to legally drive a motorcycle than an ATV.
If ATV drivers had to obtain an endorsement to their drivers license, if they had to have their ATVs inspected yearly, and if they had to show proof of insurance before getting their annual license renewal, I would have no problem sharing the road with them.
As far as I'm concerned, if they can't meet these requirements they should not be allowed anywhere off of private property.
