March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued FROTTEN, Levi Joseph “Chippy” - 82, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 11, 1924, in Amirault’s Hill, he was a son of the late Pierre Ellie and Marie Adele (Muise) Frontain. Chippy worked as a fisherman and a fish cutter during his working life. He loved woodworking, gardening, an artist and a musician, he was a jack of all trades. Surviving are loving wife of 61 years Emelinne (Meuse) Frotten; children, Edwin (Judith), Amelia (Ralph) Jacquard, both of Amirault's Hill; Carmella (Stephen) Cosman, East Kemptville; Aldrick (Ruby), Amirault’s Hill; brothers, John (Erite), Tusket; Vernon and Leo, both of Amirault’s Hill; Jimmy (Irene), Wedgeport; Augustin (Linda), North Bay, Ont.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Brad; sister, Madeline. Visiting hours were held Thursday, March 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. Funeral mass was held Friday, March 16, 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment will followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the S.P.C.A., Yarmouth Branch. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued Ruth Ann Chisholm – 68, of Aylesford, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Grafton, she was a daughter of Evelyn (Lutz) Sanford, Auburn and the late S. Earle Sanford. She was a graduate of both Central Kings Rural High School and the Nova Scotia Teachers College. She was a beloved elementary school teacher and for 32 years taught primary grades in Auburn, Dartmouth, Central Kings and Aylesford. She was a member of the Middleton women’s basketball team and in 1958 won the Nova Scotia Intermediate Women’s Championship. She was an active member of the Aylesford Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and often shared in the children’s story. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Fred; a daughter, Heather (Chris) Palmer, Aylesford; two sons, Brian (Judy), Auburn and Brett (Melanie Smith), Kingston; a sister, Joyce (Warren) Richardson, Auburn; 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph. Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 in the Aylesford Baptist Church, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007. Reverend Clyde Lowe and Reverend Don Rafuse officiated. Burial took place in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued HIGBY, Frank John "Frankie" - 65, Yarmouth, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born November 12, 1941, in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Ida “Lennie” Higby. Frank worked in the retail of lobster. He worked for Amos Brannen and Sons for a number of years, then at John Coves Fisheries. Frank enjoyed the outdoors, and loved fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife, Carol (Atwell), Yarmouth; children, Deborah Higby, Weymouth; Shawn (Karen) Higby, Sand Beach; Cory Higby, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Brandi, Colten, Ronald, and Ashley. Visiting hours were Wednesday March 14th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, in H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated, spring interment in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued Joyce Marie (Duncanson) McGill – 87, of Wilmot, passed away at home. Born in Gaspereau, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Luella (Westhaver) Duncanson. She attended Acadia University, where she studied Secretarial Science and graduated in 1939. Together with her husband, through his employment with the Royal Bank, Joyce lived in Kentville, Halifax, Berwick, Sydney, Charlottetown, Tyne Valley, PEI, Lawrencetown, Annapolis County and Wilmot. Following the death of her husband in 1978, she was a proudly independent woman who enjoyed golfing, gardening, crafting and crossword puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Karen McGill (Ron Bezanson), Hammonds Plains; Brenda McGill (Michal Wawrosz), Montreal; a sister, Lorna George, Charlottetown; four grandchildren, Meghan Bezanson, Evan Bezanson, Julia McGill-Wawrosz and Felix Wawrosz. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert McGill and a brother, Bedford Duncanson. There was no visitation by family request. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Reverend Robert Billings officiatied. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Doctor Paul MacLean. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Lorraine (Parsons) Bent. She had been employed with Dominion Produce for several years and has been active with Search and Rescue for 17 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, camping and shopping at the Dollar Store. She is survived by her husband, Keith “Stanley” Johnstone; a son, Joseph (Melissa Blair), Somerset; four sisters, Shirley (Wayne) Spicer, Harbourville; Barb Jenner, Waterville; June Kaiser (Gary Kenneally), Welsford; Karen (Percy) Murphy, Kingston; seven brothers, George (Jane), Berwick; Donald (Elsie), Waterville; Charles (Josephine), British Columbia; Allen, Waterville; Mike (Elizabeth), Welsford; Leslie (Patches), North West Territories; Lloyd (Karla), Burlington; three grandchildren, Dustin, Shyane and Kelsie; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Scotney and Sheila Bent. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued Webster, (Pitcher), Danna Maud - It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Danna, our mother, daughter, sister and beloved aunt, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Danna was surrounded by her family, who are comforted in knowing she is with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, on December 14, 1958, Danna will be missed by her parents, Captain Dan and Mae (Clark) Pitcher; her daughters, Candace (Brad) Douglas, Melissa (Mason) Thibodeau and Jamie (friend, Joe Lobbezoo); her sisters, Flora (Eli) Lace and sons, Norman (and family), Sheldon (and family); Wanda (Vincent) Boisvert and sons, Robert (and family), and Terrance (and family); Maisie (John) Wesley and sons, John Matthew (and family) and James. Danna was predeceased by her former husband, James Freeman Webster, in March 2004. Danna will be remembered for her faith in the Lord, love of animals and scrapbooking, and great smile and infectious laugh, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Through the years Danna served the community in many ways including, founder and director of the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre in Kentville; Pastor to children and families at the Church of the Nazarene in Windsor; the Family Resource Centre in Windsor, and as a Mary Kay consultant. Danna‚s family would like to thank all the staff at the Hants Community Hospital for their compassionate care during Danna‚s eight week stay in the Palliative Care Unit. Thanks also for the many kindnesses shown to the family with visits, calls, prayer and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 15 and 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 16. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued Ralph August Carver — 75, of Brampton, Ontario, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Peel Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 4, 1931 in Caledonia, Queens County, he was the youngest son of the late Gerton and Zillah (Smith) Carver. He retired from Chrysler American Motors after more than 30 years service. He was an Associate Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 87, Caledonia. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by daughter Christine (Alfred Marsh) of Gig Harbor, Washington, USA, and son Darryl (Valerie) of Brampton, Ont.; grandchildren: Michael and Michele Marsh, Emily and Laura Carver; mother of his children, Mary (Wilson) Carver of Brampton; companion, Jeanette O’Connell of Brampton; sisters: Muriel Canning of Caledonia, Anne Firlotte of Moncton, NB, and Dorothy Ringham of Caledonia. He was predeceased by sisters, Melda DeMings of Carleton Village, Helen Rose Carver in infancy; brothers, Allan, Byron and Ormonde of Caledonia. March 11, 2007 to March 17, 2007, continued WAGNER, Eleanor Hatfield, 92, Bedford, died peacefully on March 11, 2007 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Eleanor was a wonderful woman whose love, generosity, attentiveness and creativity enriched all who came in contact with her. Over the years her creative talents took many forms, including beautiful clothes for her growing daughters and one-of-a-kind gifts for their friends and her grandchildren. She donated finger puppets and neo-natal caps to the IWK, children’s comfort quilts to the Linus Project, and also created works of art in needlepoint, macramé, ceramics and stained glass. She was a loving woman whose light still shines, and we will miss her greatly. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Eleanor was the youngest child of Oscar and Grace (Hatfield) Carey. Predeceased by her sisters Alice and Lorraine, and by her dear brother Charles, she is survived by her daughters Dale Wagner (Toronto) and Pat Hannigan (Waverley), her “adopted” daughter Alice Foster (Toronto), her grandchildren Sheila (Montreal), Barbara (Amsterdam), Brian (Colleen) (Vancouver) and Neil (Monique) (Halifax), and by her six great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. We have many people to thank. Eleanor was especially fond of those who made her life at home or in hospital so much easier – her good neighbours at Bedford Manor, including Little Tykie, the faithful visitors from Bedford United Church, the Meals on Wheels volunteers, the Telecare friends who phoned daily and the members of the Northwood Home Care team whose personal attention helped her for many years and especially in the last eight months. And a special thank you from the family to Dr. Leckey, her family physician, to the VON nurses and to the doctors and nurses at Dartmouth General Hospital who gave her compassionate and sensitive care during the last six weeks of her life. Visitation was at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 14. Funeral was at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 15.
