"Special Olympians Bring Home Gold"
Shelburne County sent 16 athletes and four coaches to the Winter Games in Shearwater on March 2-4.
The curling team played five games and won all five proceeding to the gold medal game on Sunday in which they took the gold medal.
The team consisted of Sally Swaine, Tobi Krafve, Andrew Kicks, Anna Crites and Evan Crowell. The team was coached by Wendy Hicks and Emmerson O'Connell.
The floor hockey team also played five games and also was unbeaten to head to the gold medal round on Sunday. They also won gold and will now represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian National Games in Quebec City in 2008. The team was coached by Rose Crowell and Osborne Hopkins.
Accompanying the athletes to Shearwater were Fred MacDonald, Co-ordinator and Michelle Dedrick, volunteer.
