February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued Murray, Jessie Blanche, 88, of Clementsport, Annapolis Co. formerly of Hantsport passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, Annapolis Royal. Born in Centre Burlington, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Laura (Roach) Beattie. Jessie was a very talented musician, especially in piano and was a long time choir member and organist of the Hantsport United Church. Jessie was also an accomplished rug hooker. Surviving her are sons: Danny (Bev) of Hantsport, John of Clementsport, five grandchildren: Kim (Adam), Dawn (Steve), Kiersten, Trevor and Clayton, sisters: Frances Sweeting, North Carolina, Doris Anderson, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. in the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook. (Exit 14). A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Centre Burlington Cemetery on Card Beach Rd. Centre Burlington, Hants Co.. Rev. Ron Frampton officiating. Family flowers only by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home or to a charity of choice. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued GOODWIN, Sadie Margaret - 74, Lower Argyle, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 25, 1932, in Lower Argyle, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred Basil Goodwin and Lottie Evelyn (Lennox) Goodwin. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Gilbert Goodwin; daughter, Muriel "Toddie" (Sheldon) d'Entremont, Lower Argyle; sons, Sheldon (Dawn) Donaldson, Lower Argyle; Alan Donaldson, Lower Argyle. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Gilbert (Jody) d'Entremont, Nicholas (Renee) d'Entremont, Clark (Simone) Donaldson, Julian (Denise) Donaldson, Heather Donaldson, Eugene Donaldson. Her great-grandchildren, who she cherished dearly, are Maria Donaldson, Lucas d'Entremont, Summer Donaldson and Zoe Donaldson. She is also survived by her sister, Wilma (Norman) Goodwin, Lower Argyle, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Wallace Donaldson, and brother, Murray Goodwin. She was post mistress at Pubnico Post Office for 25 years. She was a previous long-time member of Argyle Pubnico United Baptist Church and, more recently, an adherent of Yarmouth North United Baptist Church. Visitation was held Monday, February 26 from 7-9 p.m. with funeral service held Tuesday, February 27 at 2 p.m., both in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Yarmouth, Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell and Pastor Raymond Pitcher officiated. Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Yarmouth North United Baptist Church, Yarmouth or a charity of choice. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued Eva Oickle — Passed away peacefully at Westgate Lodge, Belleville, Ont., on Saturday, February 24, 2007, in her 92nd year. She was the loving wife of the late William Oickle; beloved mother of Pauline Stafford of Frankford, and William Oickle of BC; the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Odessa Oickle and by her brothers, Rufus and Ralph Whynot. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at the Weaver Family Funeral Home – West Chapel, 170 Dundas St. West, Trenton. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued DOUCETTE, Richard Mathurine - 84, Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co., went to dance with the angels on Saturday, February 24, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in 1922 to the late Andre and Emma (Saulnier) Doucette. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Adele (DeViller), a daughter Charlotte (Alton) Doucette, Pinkney’s Point; a son Ruben (Susan) Doucette; also from Pinkney’s Point; he also leaves behind one grandson Ian (Charmaine), Melbourne; four granddaughters; Eugette (Allen) Nauss, Hammonds Plains; Krista (Christopher) Ryan, Wolfville; Angela (Arthur) Nelson, Moods Mill; Tonya (Christopher) Westhaver, Hammonds Plains; and four great-grandsons; Jay, Travis; Morgan; and Zackery, all of whom he cherished dearly. He is also survived by one brother Elmer (Virginia) Doucette, Abram’s River; three sisters; Nora (Edward) Warner, Abrams River; Audrey Muise, Sluice Point; Ina (Stanley) DeViller, Melbourne; one foster sister Catherine. He was predeceased by brothers Robert, Wilfred, Edward, Clayton, Basil and Zebedee in infancy. Richard was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas and a prisoner of war for 18 months. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 155, Wedgeport. He was deeply touched and highly appreciated the work of the Maple Grove Memorial Club. He also enjoyed talking with them. We will miss him, but we will never forget him! Visitation hours were from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday, with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 7:30 and prayers at 8 PM, both in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 AM, Monday, February 26, from Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church, Pinkney’s Point, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Nova Scotia Lung Association of Nova Scotia, or to Saint Raphael’s Parish Cemetery. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued Saunders, Gordon Laurie – 51, of Cambridge, Ontario formerly of Hants County, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2007. Born July 6, 1955, Gordon was the son of John Laurie Saunders of Hants County and Mary Lee Saunders, formerly of Halifax. Gordon is survived by by his son Chesley and ex-wife Bernice of Ontario; brothers Kevin (Diane), Brooklyn and Ryan, Walton; sister Leota Ruth, Yarmouth; three nieces and three nephews. Gordon worked most of his life in the construction industry. He will be sadly missed by his many friends in both Ontario and Nova Scotia and will be well remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others less fortunate. Cremation has taken place. A memorial celebrating Gordon’s life will be held March 18th, 1-4pm, at the Centre Burlington Community Hall, in Hants County.
February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 continued Red (Warren) Ackerman — 85, of White Point, Queens County, died Monday, February 19, 2007. He was the husband of Pam; father of Susan, Lisa, Nance, and John; grandfather of Sarah, Megan, Brad, Amy, Thomas, Hannah, Joe and Lindsay. At his request, there will be no funeral. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Donations in Red’s memory may be made to Queens Manor, Liverpool, where he received extraordinary care for the past two years.
