EMENEAU, Hector Orlando - 83, of Meadowvale, NS passed away, Friday, February 16, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS.
Born in Lake Pleasant, NS, he was a son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Acker) Emeneau. He was a woodsman most of his life and a former employee at Allen’s Mill. Hector enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by long time companion, Marjorie Labrador, Meadowvale and step-daughter, Kathy Wade. He was predeceased by sisters, Kathleen, Flora, Eva, Esther and Alma; brothers, Arnold, Edmond, Ray, Clifford and Aubrey. Visitation was held Sunday, February 18, 2007 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902)825-3448, where the funeral service was held Monday, February 19,2007, Rev. Bill McLeod officiated. HOWLAND, Doris N. (Lowe) - 80, born April 5, 1926 in Lexington, Massachusetts, recently passed away on February 13, 2007 in Topsfield, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Henry Everett Lowe and Clara (Wolfe) Lowe and great granddaughter of Christine Marie Louise Augusta Countess von Boxberg. Surviving are sister, Mary Young of California and brother Charles Lowe of Naples, Florida. She was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Nawoichik and a bother, John Lowe. She was a wonderful mother to Kathy Howland, Tupperville, Nova Scotia; Sandra Howland, Topsfield, Mass.; and John Howland Georgetown, Mass., and a special Nana to Kyle Zavitz, Halifax; Benjamin Howland Zavitz, Tupperville; Meredith Cicercia, Dupont Circle, Washington D.C.; and John-max and Micheala Howland of Georgetown. She was predeceased by her long time companion Victor Peterson. Doris worked early on at Merchants Bank in Boston, then became a homemaker for many years. Later in life, she worked at Macys for over 20 years. Mom was a very generous, happy person who spent most of her life in Lynnfield, Mass. She was a member of the Garden Club in Lynnfield and was a hospital volunteer. She loved her dog and cats, and even rode a horse when she was 70! She loved traveling and had been to Hawaii, Brazil, Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, California and Puerto Rico. She and Victor loved to dance and went ballroom dancing every weekend! Sadly, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease about 12 years ago. Doris stayed with her children for a while, and then was a resident at Grace Haven Care Facility in Paradise, Nova Scotia for a few years. From there, she spent the last two years at Masconomet Health Care Center in Topsfield, Massachusetts. The wake and funeral were held at the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield, Mass, service performed by Centre Congregational Church of Lynnfield, minister Rev. Dennis C. Bailey. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield, at the top of a beautiful hill in a plot shared with Victor, with the inscription “Music always.” Guest book at legacy.com. Blauveldt, Kenneth Ralph - husband of Kathryn (Dolly) Blauveldt for fifty-six years, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on February 14, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Born in Tusket, Nova Scotia on October 12, 1926, he was a the son of Robert and Muriel (Bishop) Blauveldt. After graduating from the Yarmouth County Academy, he worked for eleven years in the Imperial Bank of Commerce in several Maritime centres. He was later an employee of the New Brunswick Electric Power Commission, retiring after thirty years. He had a life-long interest in the military from the time he was a Major in his high school cadet corps. He served for twenty-five years in the militia, retiring as Lieutenant-Colonel and Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, Royal New Brunswick Regiment. He was a Past President of the Capital Winter Curling Club, a member of the Fredericton Golf Club the United Services Institute and Branch #4 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He especially enjoyed being with his friends in a Tuesday morning golf group and in the Smokey Mokes. He is survived by his wife, his three children Anna (John Brooks) in Reykjavik, Iceland, Hugh (Lorie) in Airdrie, Alta. and Robert in Ottawa, his five grandchildren Katya, Stephenie, Peter, Laura, and Thomas, and one great-grandchild Ethan. He is also survived by his sisters Laura (Sydney) Butler of Yarmouth, N.S. and Evelyn Bailey of Ottawa, as well as many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service was held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 p.m. The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiated, assisted by The Most Rev. Harold Nutter. A reception took place at Cathedral Memorial Hall immediately following the service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. FRANK, Vera Muriel - 85, Windsor/McKay Section, Hants Co., passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, surrounded by her family. Born on August 23, 1921, in New Ross, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Henrietta (Hirtle) Leopold. She is survived by her daughter, Louise (Shaun) Buffett, Windsor; son, Lamont Frank, Brooklyn; grandchildren, Kris Harvey, Adam Harvey, Alison Buffett, Benjamin Frank, Charles Frank and Tia Peach; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Frank, Shelby Frank, Jaeden Harvey and Julia Harvey; brother, Manning Leopold, Odgens; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Munson Stanley Frank (1978); sisters, Hulda Hiltz, Ina Redden and Nina Fancy; brothers, Charles, Emerson, Robert, Grant, Reginald and Murray Leopold. Mitchell, Elizabeth “Mil” Mildred (Muise) - 58 of Bar Harbor, Maine, formerly of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, died unexpectedly Feb. 17, 2007, at an Ellsworth hospital, the result of a sledding accident. She was born Feb. 24, 1949 in East Quinan, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Julia (Muise) Gordon. Her faith in God and family was the highlight of her life. She was a member of the First Light Assembly of God where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the women's ministry. She assisted with fundraising at the Town Hill Fire House. She enjoyed sewing and assisting others as a C.N.A. for many years and was an activities coordinator at M.D.I. Hospital, Sonagee Estates and Courtland Living Center. She enjoyed crafts, reading, cooking and loved children. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Stephen David Mitchell; children Clifford T. Berrouard of Bucksport, Maine, Elizabeth (Johan) Amneus of Big Pine Key, Florida, Stephen (Alissa) Mitchell of Key West, Florida, Christopher Mitchell of Bar Harbor, Maine; grandchildren John Weaver, Faith Mitchell, Jared Mitchell and Sebastian Amneus; brothers Paul (Robin) Gordon of Yarmouth, NS, James (Denise) Gordon of Halifax, NS; sisters Elaine (Stillman) O'Connell of Yarmouth, NS, Marie (Yvon) Boudreau of Lower Wedgeport, NS, Denise (Larry) Sherman of Yarmouth, NS and Shirley (Neil) Gordon-Collie of Ottawa, Ontario; nephew Shawn O'Connell; nieces Jennifer and Shari Gordon, Chantal and Katrina Boudreau, Crystal Sherman and Mackenzie Gordon. Mildred has a very large and extended family. She was predeceased by her first husband Leonard Berrouard and her daughter Ruth Lynn Mitchell.
