Women celebrate in Bridgetown
Women's World
By Wendy Knowlton
The Women’s Place Resource Centre and the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women are celebrating. What are we celebrating? Being a woman, of course!
March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year, we are celebrating in the community of Bridgetown. From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., local women artists will create pieces that celebrate women. The artists will be creating this art at Bridgetown town hall, the Scotiabank, Pharmasave, Endless Shores Bookstore, Graves Valuefoods, Cinnamon Creek, and Bill & Lee’s Pizza.
From 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., women musicians will be holding a song writers circle at the End of the Line Pub, creating a song that will be the theme for this area’s celebration of International Women’s Day. From 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., there will be a reception at The Women’s Place, showcasing the pieces of art and the creators, including the theme song.
I hope everyone can join us in our celebration of women. Maps outlining where the artists will be available at the participating businesses and at The Women’s Place at 38 Queen Street in Bridgetown. A special thank you to the artists and the businesses for helping us coordinate this community event!
