February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Vincent, Mary Josephine Elizabeth (Marshall) – of Saint John passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 26, 1922 in Marshalltown, Digby County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Geneva Marshall. Mary graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in Montreal, Public Health Diploma Program from Dalhousie University and the Administration Diploma Program from the University of Toronto. She was a public health nurse in Nova Scotia for 14 years and the last few years that she worked in Public Health she was a supervisor in the Dartmouth office. Following her marriage to Albert Vincent in 1961, Mary resided in Saint John and she became supervisor of outpatients at the Saint John General Hospital. After her nursing career she became Administrator of Health and Welfare of the Atlantic Provinces Trowel Trades (bricklaying, tile setters, etc.). She also served as first vice-president of the Saint John Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. In the 1950’s Mary developed Multiple Sclerosis and in spite of her decreasing mobility she always maintained a sense of humour, self-confidence and independence. She is survived by her husband Albert Vincent, niece Genevieve Keen (Robert Burke), Dartmouth; nephews Emerson Keen (Jacqueline), Stewiack and Danny Vincent, Saint John; several great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sisters Maude (infant) and Marjorie (Chester) Keen. Mary will be deeply missed by her family. She was resting at St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement in Saint John, N.B. Funeral service was held at the church on Thursday, Feb. 22. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Marshalltown, N.S. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. Remembrances to Multiple Sclerosis Society or Mission Church would be appreciated. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Smith, Celeste – 60, Salmon River, died Feb. 18 in Yarmouth Regional Hositpal. Funeral was held in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Salmon River. Interment at a later date.
February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Saulnier, Clifford J. “Pop” – 75 of Saulnierville died Feb. 18 at home. Funeral was held in Sacred Heart Church, Saulnierville. Interment in the parish cemetery.
February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Bradford Ashley “Brad” Morton - 83, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of New Minas and Kentville, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Pubnico Head, Yarmouth County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Hazel (Lyle) Morton. Brad was employed with Maritime Tel and Tel, retiring after 36 years. He was a veteran of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, having served for over 30 years, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and was a member of Horton Masonic Lodge #132, Kentville. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Marjorie Beckingham; a daughter, Bonnie-Lee (Charley) Scott, Markham, Ontario; two sons, Keith (Sheilagh), Wolfville; Terry (Wanda), North Alton; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. A combined Masonic service and Fire Department funeral service took place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Macneil, Edith Anne – 90, Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth, and formerly of Hibernia Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 27, 1916 in Surette’s Island, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Adele Moulaison. Edith was a homemaker, and was a devoted parishioner of Saint Ambrose Cathedral parish, Yarmouth. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Yarmouth, and she also enjoyed playing cards and sewing. Surviving is a son, John (Arlene) MacNeil, South Ohio, along with their children, Heather Berryman, Tusket, and Corey MacNeil, Halifax; a daughter, Cathy (Raymond) Green, Barrington, along with their children, Kimberly Green, Yarmouth and Tara Green, Barrington. Also surviving are brothers, Freddie (Betty) Moulaison, Ontario; Donald Moulaison, Shelburne; Alphie (Valerie) Moulaison, Yarmouth; sisters, Doris Cann, South Ohio; Adele Robicheau, Yarmouth. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Donald MacNeil; a brother, Harvey; sisters, Agnes, Amelia, Frances, Mabel and Christine. Visitation took place from 7-9 Wednesday, with prayers at 8:30 PM, both in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 3 PM, Thursday, February 22 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert Street, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Spring interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Madeline M. McLeod — 88, of Queens Manor, Liverpool, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Simeon and Eleanor (Whynot) Whynot. Madeline enjoyed sewing as a pastime. She is survived by daughters, Karon of Liverpool, Sharon of Toronto, Ont.; son, Arthur of Liverpool; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley MacLeod of Liverpool; brothers, Eric (Mary Ann) of Mill Village, Frank and Ross, both of Liverpool. She was predeceased by husband, Alexander; sisters: Elizabeth, June and Lillian; brothers: Thomas and Oscar. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. February 18, 2007 to February 24, 2007 Gerald McKenna Morse - 74, Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at the family home in Berwick, Kings Co., he was the son of the late P. L. and Martha E. (Loomer) Morse. Gerald attended school in Berwick and Kentville and was a Boy Scout for many years, achieving the high honour of Queen Scout. He attended the 1st Annual Canadian Boy Scout Jamboree in Ottawa in 1949. He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church, where he had been a long-time choir member and had belonged to the Berwick Male Choir. Gerald was a veteran member of the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department (serving from 1954 until the early 1970’s). Gerald worked on the family farm for many years. He played intermediate hockey, was a long-time minor hockey coach and was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 as a “Builder”. He was a founding member of the Caribou Aircraft Company and always had an interest in aviation. He was a pilot for 20 years and helped restore three PT-17 Stearman Aircraft. Gerald was a very generous and kind man, helping any one in need. He was an avid historian with a wonderful memory. He excelled at Mathematics and was always busy on his computer. Surviving are sons, James (Christy Ann) and Kendall (Shawna) Morse, all of Berwick; daughter, Carol Miller, South Berwick who is attending Dalhousie University, Halifax; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Anna Catherine, Cameron Alexander, Silas Eammon Daniel, Jesse Amos; former wife, Marilyn J. Miller, Canning; brothers, Harold (Vivian) and Lawrence (Alfretta) Morse, all of Berwick; John Morse, Hantsport; sisters, Mary Morse, Grand View Manor, Berwick; Ruth Ann (Canon Emery) Harris, Guelph, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rhetta Dawn Morse; brother, Donald Morse; sisters, Margaret Best; Helen Morse. Visitation for Gerald was held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 23, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). The funeral service was held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24, in the Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Murray Shaw, Rev. Donald MacPherson and Canon Emery Harris (his brother-in-law) officiated. Burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department, Berwick Apple Capital Museum or to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame. The family would like to say a special thank you to his sister, Mary for caring for Gerald for many years as well as to the I.C.U. staff at Valley Regional Hospital, the nurses of the V.O.N. as well as the Grand View Manor staff.
