COTTREAU, Anne Nettie – 85, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 5, 1921 in Wedgeport, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Adéline (Doucet) Boudreau. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She worked as a cook on Harris Island, then with Alfred C. LeBlanc Ltd, first as a fish processor, then as a supervisor. Nettie will be remembered as an avid reader, card player, quilt maker, and she participated in many variety shows to help raise money for various projects. She is survived by seven children, Kate (Lawrence) LeBlanc, Wedgeport; Jerry (Marie) Cottreau, Surette’s Island; Barbara (Paul) Surette, Elaine Thibeau, Roland (Jeanette) Cottreau, William Cottreau (Nancy Penny), Bernadine (Arthur) LeBlanc, all of Wedgeport; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Terence Cottreau, her second husband, Delbert Cottreau; sons, George and David; two grandchildren, Devin and Christina; sisters, Nancy, Laura Anne, Marie Thérèse, Delite; brothers, Lionel, Abel, Vincent, Jean Alexis, Lindsey, Eddie. Visitation took place from 2-4, 7-9 Tuesday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass took place at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 31 from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. Delbert Loyde Sanford - 50, of Kentville, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at home. Born on January 2, 1957, in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Harry Sanford and Grace “Lottie” (Butler) (Sanford) Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Pick), and their children, Camille, Angela and Ben, all at home. He is also survived by a sister, Helen (Clifford) Parrish, Kentville; a brother, John (Carolyn) Sanford, Alberta; his paternal grandmother, Vera Winter; four aunts and an uncle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Everett Sanford and his step-grandfather, Hughie Winter; his maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Dorothy (Atwell) Butler; an aunt; three uncles, in infancy. Delbert worked at Tide Water Construction, drove tractor-trailer long haul for various companies and completed his dream by owning his own company in Kentville. Affordable Freight Consultants is his success story. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on March 5, 1982, served in many positions in the church and was unwavering in his faith. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Belcher Street, Kentville. Bishop Charles Spinney officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses. Laurie Bernell Rogers - 69, of the Wolfville Nursing Home, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 in the home. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John Sr. and Marjorie (Kane) Rogers. He was raised in the Canning area and attended school in Pereau. Laurie was later employed on many farms throughout the area. For several years Laurie has been a resident of the Wolfville Nursing Home, where he enjoyed the social and recreational activities. He was a also country music fan. He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Scott) Brewster, Berwick; a brother, Gerald, Vancouver, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Jr. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007. Reverend David Elliott officiated. Burial took place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville Nursing Home. Charles Raymond Lynch - 71, Windsor and Florida, passed away January 29, 2007 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born August 12, 1935 in Newport Corner, the son of Mary (Canavan) and the late Raymond Lynch. He was employed for 22 years with MacDonald Construction and C.P. Flemming P. Eng, 22 years as a Carpentry Instructor, Halifax Regional Vocational School, Bell Road, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Ardoise Union Church, an elder for 35 years and Past President of the Newport Corner Community Club for many years. Charles had a passion for old time dancing, card games, travel, time at the cottage, and in later years he enjoyed square dancing, golf, and shuffleboard. His memory will live on through the many items he had handcrafted for his family and friends. Thanks for the care and support he received during his stay at QE II Hospital, 8.4 . Surviving are his wife Wilma (Blois) of 49 years, daughters Laurenda DeWolfe (Kevin Lucas), Newport Corner; Kathy Barss (John), Havre Boucher, Janice MacKintosh (Wayne), Lakelands, Heather Collins (Kevin), Halifax; sister Helen Pate, Truro; brothers Lawrence (Christine) Wolfville; Darryl (Debbie) Innisville, Ontario; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Colin, Emma, Jennifer, Holly, Kristy, Craig, Ella and Lilly. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at Gladys Manning Retirement Home, College Road, Windsor, on Thursday, February 1, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The memorial service was held at Windsor United Church, King Street, Windsor, on Friday, February 2, at 2 p.m. Rev. Bill Gibson and Rev. Karen Pierce officiated. There was a reception immediately following the service. Private interment took place following the reception at the United Church Cemetery, South Rawdon. Family flowers only. FRANCIS, Max Murray — of Milton, Queens County, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007, while in the care of the Hematology Department at QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by his immediate family and friends. Born April 16, 1938 in Milton, he was a son of Joseph Francis of Truro and the late Geraldine (Lowe) Francis. Max was a graduate of the Maritime Forest Ranger School at the University of New Brunswick and was a former assistant Ranger for the Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax. He was a cartographic draftsman, working in the Woodlands Department of Bowater Mersey Paper Company Limited of Brooklyn, producing maps of woodlands owned and managed by the company throughout Nova Scotia, retiring in 1996. He was an avid gardener and his love of the environment resonated through his dedication to the conservation of natural forest and wildlife areas. His most loved pastimes were the playing of the violin, woodworking and the collection and preservation of Native American artifacts. He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Shirley Smith; daughter, Julie (Shawn) D’Arcy of Mersey Point; son, Jonathan of Halifax; granddaughter, Shae D’Arcy; sister, Karen (Robie) MacRae of New Hampshire; brothers: Joseph (Delphine) of Ontario, Allen (Jeannita) of New Brunswick; mother-in-law, Margaret Smith of Stellarton. He was predeceased by father-in-law, Herman Smith; sister-in-law, Sandra Smith; brother-in-law, Seldon Smith. Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 3 from Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ; Rev. Jennifer Garbin officiated, assisted by Todd Labrador. Burial in Milton Community Cemetery. Fay Alberta Marshall - 73, of Northville, Kings County, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Montague, PEI, she was a daughter of the late John and Alberta (Gray) Carr. Fay was retired from teaching and at one point owned and operated a bakery along with her husband, Vernon. She was a member of the Billtown Baptist Church and was a loving mother who enjoyed helping others. Fay volunteered for many years at the Annapolis County Exhibition and greatly enjoyed the ox-pulls. She is survived by her husband, Vernon; a daughter, Dora (Malcolm) Gillis, West Dalhousie; a son, Patrick (Holly), Kentville; a sister, Shirley (Bruce) Hatt, Labelle, Queens County; three grandchildren, Nicole, Devon and Katrina. She was predeceased by two brothers, Beecher Allan and Jack Carr. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007. Julia Marguerite “Maggie” Parker - of Bedford passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 29, 2007 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, New Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of the late Freeman and Georgie (Surette) Young. Dearest wife of Herb and cherished mother of Anne, much loved grandmother of Scott (Sheila) Walsh, Michael Walsh and precious great grandmother of Ashley Lynn Walsh. Maggie is also survived by her only and younger brother, Vincent, who lives at Parkland Estates in Halifax. In addition, she is the dear aunt of nephews, Robert (Barbara) Young, Richard (Elizabeth) Young, Michael (Rebecca) Young and Mark (Bonnie) Young and nieces, Janet (David) Morse and Joan Louise (Richard) Brown. She held several administrative positions in both Kentville and Ottawa and was a volunteer in helping children who had learning difficulties. Maggie was active in crafts, such as pottery, jewelry making, crocheting and oil painting of landscapes. Along with her many interests, Maggie really loved to dance, anywhere and at anytime. She also gained great pleasure from the beauty of flowers, in her home as well as in her gardens at Aylesford Lake, Kings County. Her family was always utmost in her life. Her strength, good example, guidance, warmth and unconditional love will be missed by all. Although Maggie had many interests in her life, her main concern was always that of helping others. Maggie was a kind and gentle person who accepted life’s challenges with courage and determination. Her deep and unwavering faith in God was the guide by which she lived her life and was a constant inspiration to all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her ready and captivating smile that she had for everyone, particularly the young and the old. Although, she gave her time and energy generously to the church where she lived, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Kentville, where she grew up, was always her home church. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with prayers held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Father Gerald Saulnier officiated. Burial took place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Potter, Myrtle Estella – 76 of Annapolis Royal, born in Centreville, Digby Co. died Jan. 30 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Funeral was held in Clementsvale Baptist Church. Interment was in Clementsvale Cemetery.

Mosher, David Stanley – It is with heavy hearts the family of David Stanley Mosher, 53, of Digby announce his passing on Jan. 30, 2007 after a year-long battle with cancer. David wanted to leave this life without pain and suffering at home, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Thomas & Enid (Hamm) Mosher, New Minas. David worked with the Coast Guard early on, then was employed as a fisherman, fishing out of Lunenburg, Digby and was currently employed by Comeau Fisheries. Surviving to cherish many precious memories are his devoted wife Wanda Dorey/Warnell; Son Corey (Amanda) Lower Sackville, whom he was so very proud of. He was “Poppie” to his precious granddaughter Nicole. Best friend to brother James, B.C.; sister he loved dearly Judy (Lapland); Special Aunt Ruth Kiazer; New Minas; several aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by an infant son, maternal grandparents Mae and Frederick Hamm, paternal grandparents Maude and Wesley Mosher. David lived life to the fullest. His happiest times were spent with his family. He was a loyal friend to many, a spirit that once met, was never forgotten. David loved being outdoors, taking great pride in his yard. He loved to hunt, fish and camp as well as being an avid Leafs fan, David would want to be remembered as being full of love for life, family and the great outdoors. All his happy times were spent sitting around chatting with his friends. A 30-year member to Harding Legion Branch #144 Western Shore, where a Legion service was held Sunday Feb. 4. The memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 3 from the Digby Baptist Church, Rev. Donald Robertson officiated, with burial at a later date. Gladys May Robichaud - 90, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Gaspé, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Flora (Minchinton) Roberts. She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She is survived by a daughter, Delilah Keddy, Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Robichaud, North Alton; a brother, Kenneth (Chris), PEI; a son-in-law, Troy Keddy, Aylesford; six grandchildren, Jared, Colton, Brandon and Lunden Keddy, Paul (Kirsten) and Jay (Cindy) Robichaud; two great grandchildren, Ian and Chelsey Robichaud; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul; a son, Paul; four sisters, Faye LeMesurier, Bertha Roberts, Susanna Roberts and Vina Bourgaise; four brothers, Arthur, Milton, Burton and Lindsay; her companion, Wilbert Bourgaize.
