Intelligent design
The Shelburne County Coast Guard
The aliens were obviously seeking, and found intelligent life when they attempted to land in Shag Harbour in 1967.
A group of residents collectively called the Shag Harbour Incident Society are preparing to capitalize on people’s fascination with the well-witnessed, mysterious crash by planning to build a multi-purpose facility that will offer information about the incident.
Tourists already visit the community each year to stare at the ocean site and buy souvenirs at the Shag Harbour Canada Post Office.
The group has also intelligently decided to incorporate a family research centre and community museum into the building as well.
Part of the design will incorporate a lighthouse. If working, of course, this could be of great assistance to our interplanetary visitors in avoiding future crashes.
In some incidences, however, such as the 1967 one, the word tacky should be re-defined and embraced with vigour.
The area needs to build a flying disc for Alvin, an alien wood cutout at the post office. It would be a great tourism draw and the interior could house a café and gift shop in addition to UFO information.
Let’s say the heck with modesty. Give Shag Harbour visitors some fun and more will come.
Locals dressed up as cliché big-eyed aliens or, even better, lobster-claw wielding monster aliens could greet visitors. Pancakes, waffles and, of course well-designed fish cakes could round out the menu, so to speak.
Tours of the area, by sea and by land, could highlight not only the incident but the area’s beauty and attractions as well.
They could go even further to extend tourism in the area. An ERV (Extra-Recreational Vehicle) park could be established on the dirt parking lot that overlooks the crash site.
There are only two problems, though. The government would probably initiate a crack down on illegal aliens and the exchange rate would be difficult to calculate.
How many Canadian dollars do you get for a Shazpah, anyway? Probably a lot.
In all seriousness, however, keep it up. This is what community togetherness is all about.
