January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued Marie “Matilda” D’Eon - 82, of Kentville, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. She was born to Elie and Ella (Boudreau) LeBlanc in Saulnierville, Digby County where she will be remembered for her singing and playing of music at home, in her community and in her church. Her early education occurred in Saulnierville. Training in hairstyling and esthetics took place in Digby and she was employed by Fidel’s Beauty Shop in Digby before her marriage. She resided in Shediac and Dieppe, New Brunswick in her early married life and then settled in Kentville. She became a homemaker raising six children, and was utterly devoted to family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Russell D’Eon, formerly of Meteghan River and Kentville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Francoise (Emma) LeBlanc, Wilfred (Zelma) LeBlanc, Laura (Mederic) Comeau, Elise (Auguste) Doucet, Gilbert, Herman (known as Armand), Odile and Rosemarie. She is survived by her children, Gerald (Mabel), Calgary; Jeannine, Lower Sackville; Paul (Debby), Tantallon; Philip, Lake George, Kings County, Denise (Barton O’Donnell), Saint John, New Brunswick; David, Kentville; 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. A special thank-you to all the staff of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Dr. Seaman and attending medical staff, and especially to Mary Haggerty whose kindness and concern is so greatly appreciated. Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with prayers held at 8 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, with a reception to follow in the church hall. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued Nadine Pearl (Kynock) Hutchinson - 46, of South Alton, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at home. Born on September 1, 1960 in Kentville, she was a daughter of Lawrence Kynock, South Alton and the late Merle O. (Welton) Kynock. She graduated with her Nursing Assistant certificate from the Annapolis Vocational School in September of 1980. She went on to take her Licensed Practical Nursing course and was employed at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Her interests and hobbies included watching her daughter in skating competitions, sight seeing, crafts, and Frenchy shopping. Nadine was also a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church, North Alton, Kings County. In addition to her father, she is survived by three children, Devin, Alberta; Denise, Ottawa; Dustin, at home; her companion, David Richard; two brothers, Larry (Cindy) Kynock and Kevin (Leanne) Kynock, both of South Alton; a sister, Sharon (Hugh) Gillis, South Alton; several nieces, nephews and aunts. She will also be sadly missed by Maggie, Zoppa and Shadow. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 in New Hope Wesleyan Church. Reverend Scott Prime officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued Robert Keir Cousins - 65, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Baltic, PEI, he was a son of the late Robert S. and Louise (Ramsay) Cousins. He had worked in farming, plumbing and construction. He was a member of and enjoyed being involved in the Centreville Baptist Church, participating in the construction of their recent addition. Robert loved life, enjoyed keeping busy and was very proficient as a handyman. His passion was amateur hockey and was involved in many different aspects. He is survived by his wife, the former Marlene Ward; a daughter, Lianne (Ian) Murray, Irishtown, PEI; two sons, Darren (Susan) and Robert “Bob” (Sheri), both of Darnley, PEI; their mother, Carol, Irishtown; two step-daughters, Cynthia (Dave) Whiting and Kimberly Comeau, both of Enfield; a step-son, Timothy Comeau, Halifax; three sisters, Mary Hickey, Kensington, PEI; Edith Woodside (Bob), Toronto; Florence (Burrows) MacPhail, Baltic; six brothers, Sutherland (Altheia) and William (Elaine), both of Malpeque, PEI; Arthur (Shirley), Baltic; Norman (Marilyn), Grimsby, Ontario; Fulton (Mary), Spring Valley, PEI; John (Judy), Summerside, PEI; six grandchildren, Blake, Brent, Ellen, Tessa, Emily and Alex. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 in the Centreville Baptist Church. Reverend Marc Potvin officiated. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued Dorothy Frances Robinson - Our beloved mother, Dorothy Frances Robinson, 88, of Kentville, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Mum was born July 1, 1918 in McKees Mills, New Brunswick. She was the eldest daughter of the late William and Lorna (Farrell) Cameron. She married Lloyd Robinson on June 1, 1940. Mum and Dad settled in Kentville, where they owned and operated The Robinson Specialty Shop for over 25 years. Mum was known for her expertise in knitting and homemaking. She had a wonderful sense of humour. Her tender, loving ways were surpassed by a smile and glistening eyes that lit up a room. Since 1997, Mum has made her home at Grand View Manor, where she thrived under the expert, gentle care of staff and friends. Mum is survived by her son, Garth (Linda), Picton, Ontario; daughter, Carol (Mark), Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughters, Alisa and Staci; nieces, Sandra and Gayle; cousins, Gladys Botten, Eileen and Stan Steeves and their families, Moncton, New Brunswick. Her sister, Marion (Beulah) preceded her. Dad preceded her in October, 1999. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. No visitation or funeral service by request. Burial was at McKees Mills Baptist Church Cemetery. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued MELANSON, Beryl Elizabeth - 85, passed away Thursday January 25, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 20, 1921 in Springhaven, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gertrude (Cook) Trefry. Up to her retirement Beryl worked at the Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School as a cook. She enjoyed outings with her sisters and playing cards. Surviving are sons; Randy Melanson, Calgary Alberta; Burton (Beatrice) Melanson, Brooklyn; daughters, Alma Graham, St. Andrews NB; Anne (Ray) LeBlanc, Wilmot; Elaine (Bob) LeFave, Port Maitland; Barb (Don) Theriault, Yarmouth; Dale (Doug) Carruthers, Moncton, NB; daughter in law Joan Melanson, Charlottetown, PEI; sisters; Ruby Manser, Valda Fiander, Merlyn Murphy, all of Yarmouth; 33 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; besides her parents she was predeceased by husband Lawrence; a son Daryl; daughter Joyce in infancy; granddaughter Lynn; brothers; Vernon, Earl, Maynard, Alan, Wallace. Visitation took place Friday, January 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 with prayers at 8 pm both in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. Funeral mass was held at 3 pm Saturday, January 27 at from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Dear father of Patti (D. Peter) Menning, Gloria (Dave Clark) Skuse and Norman (Shelley) Doucette. Adored Gramps of Peter Menning Jr, Philip (Cara) Menning, Lee (Dianna) Kuhn, Jackie (Bill) Doek, Jacob Doucette and Joshua Doucette. Cherished great grandfather of Lee Kuhn Jr., Kandice Kuhn, Jessica Menning, Jori Lynne Doek, Matthew Doek, Cody Doek and several nieces and nephews. Al was the son of the late Frank and Lennie Doucette, brother of Mildred Wentzell of Digby and Marie Valloreo of Montreal. He was predeceased by brothers Lawrence, Benjamin, Carey, Nathan, Clifford, sister Edna Jordan and infant sister Lucy. Al was a retired employee of Murphy Bros./McKenzie Tires. It is with treasured memories and hearts full of sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Nils in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on January 26, 2007. Born December 5, 1936, in Copenhagen, Denmark, he was the son of the late Erik and Ellen (Rasussen) Hersom-Petersen. He was a farmer who loved his farm life, a great coach for the Kempt Shore Girls tug-of-war team and loved fishing, gardening and his family. His loving family consists of his wife of 50 years, Myrna (Ogilvie); his children, Elaine (Tony) Lake, Calgary; Terry (Rosemary), Fraser Lake, BC; Janet (David) Giles, Windsor; Valdis (Becky), PEI; Carla (Curtis) Laffin, Fraser Lake, BC; and Thomas (Sandra), Kempt Shore; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Kristen Burns, Dartmouth, and Greta (Art) Weaver, Kempt Shore. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued Robie Eugene Webster - 82, Glenmont, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on January 22, 2007, in Valley Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Sheffield Mills, he was a son of the late Frank and Annie (Rockwell) Webster. Robie lived in Sheffield Mills for his first 66 years, residing in Glenmont for the past 16. He was a self-employed carpenter all of his working life. He also picked apples both in the Valley and the United States, drove the mail by horse and wagon, and ran a skating rink in Sheffield Mills for several years. Robie is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Rafuse and Eleanor Corkum; sons, Frank (Lorna), Edmonton; Paul, Kentville; daughters, Marilyn Beaton (Brian), Prince George; Janet Steele (John), Glenmont; Gail Wittenberg (Rick), Canard; grandchildren, Paula Lyons, Jill Buliziuk, David Steele Jr., Jay Steele, Joel Steele, Michelle Webster, Jennifer MacFarlane, Rachel Webster, Tara Wittenberg, Ashley Wittenberg, and Evan Wittenberg; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. January 21, 2007 to January 27, 2007 continued BLADES, Nora Augusta - 75, Clyde River, Shelburne County, passed away in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Thursday, January 25, 2007 with her family by her side. Born in Clam Point, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Alfreda Nickerson. She worked for many years in a fish plant. She loved to go camping. She spent many years in the Valley camping. The last few years she spent camping at Island Park with her circle of friends. She looked forward to her children and grandchildrens’ visits. Her family was her life. She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary (Claude) Smith, Liverpool, Edsel (Dot) Blades, Sandy Point, Loran “Bim” (Joyce) Blades, Carleton Village, Darlene (Joe) Arsenault, Prince Edward Island, Patty (Jimmy) Graham, Clyde River, Anthony (Marjorie) Blades, Yarmouth, Henry Blades (Peter), Dartmouth.
