Robicheau, Bernard Leo – 80, of Brighton, died Jan. 16 at home. Funeral was in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Marshalltown. Interment in Madonna Cemetery, Marshalltown.

Wells, Robert “Bob” Edward – 69, Sandford, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 16, 1937 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Wiliam and Mary Anne (Pothier) Wells. He worked as a fish processor. Surviving are his common-law partner, Dorothy Giroux; his children, Beverly Pinkney (Austin McCarthy), Short Beach; Robert (Sharon) Wells Jr., Carleton; Gina (Reginald) Hatfield, Alberta; Heather (Brian) Watkins, Ontario; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, John B. (Pamela) Wells, Joseph (Georgina) Wells, Michael (Carolyn) Bourque, all of Yarmouth; a sister, Virginia (Brian) Baker, Dartmouth. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Michael and William. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, January 19 with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 20, from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert Street, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated, assisted by Deacon Stephen Bourque. Interment took place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Yarmouth SPCA. Taylor, Josephine - 89, Plymouth, Yarmouth Co. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Taylor on January 17, 2007. Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late James Van and Charlotte (Frost) Purdy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her late husband, John Knarston Taylor; brothers, George F. Purdy and his wife Ruth, Lionel Purdy and his wife Olive; step-sons Jack and Eric Taylor. She is survived by nieces Marilyn (Fred) Minard, Joanne (David) DeMille, Jane (Donald) Nelson; nephew George A. Purdy and their families; step-daughter-in-laws Beulah and Ann Taylor. She worked at Trefry’s Garage until her retirement. For 33 years, she faithfully served her church as clerk-treasurer. She sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. As well, she was a soloist at many weddings in the community. Arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home with visitation held 7-9 on Friday, January 19. Funeral service was held Saturday, January 20 at 1 p.m. in the Plymouth United Baptist Church, Pastor Craig Minard officiated. Interment followed in the Plymouth Cemetery. Cunningham, Brenda Jeanette – 54, of Liverpool died Jan. 17 in Queens Manor, Liverpool. She was born in Hillsburn. She has relatives in Digby. Graveside service was held in Hillsburn Cemetery.

Speichts, Nelson Frederick – 89, of Wilmot, born in Centreville Digby Co., died Jan. 17 in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at a later date in Smith’s Sulis Cemetery, Smith’s Cove.

Hirtle, Arnold E. – 61, Mill Village, Queens Co., died Jan. 18 in QE11 Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. He has relatives in Digby. Funeral was held in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Burial was in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Larry M Rainforth - 68, Auburn, Kings Co. passed away Thursday January 18, 2007, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Auburn. Rev. Charles Bull officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. BRINTON, Vera May - 88, of Port Lorne, passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS. Born in Bridgetown, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Agnes (Burns) Wagner. Vera was a member of the Port Lorne Baptist Church. In her earlier years she was a personal care worker at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, a former member of the Middleton Baptist Church and the Middleton Women’s Institute. She was a very outgoing person who had many friends and enjoyed traveling and dearly loved her family. Vera is survived by daughter, Barbara (Walter) Graves, Port Lorne; sons, Edwin (Loretta) Brinton, Riverview, NB; Clifford (Debbie) Brinton, Marshalltown, NS; Glenn (Pat) Brinton, Magdalene Islands; Lorne (Wendy) Brinton, Wilmot; sisters, Evangeline Clarke, Berwick; Betty Hopkins, Aylesford; Marjorie Brewster, New Minas; Doris O’Brien, Toronto; brothers, Lawrence (Tracy), Kentville; Douglas (Carol), Wolfville; 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence, sister, Eleanor White and brother, Ralph. Visitation was held Sunday, January 21, 2007 in the Middleton Funeral Home, (902) 825-3448. Funeral service was held Monday, January 22, 2007 in the Port Lorne Baptist Church, Pastor Bill Patterson officiated. Interment in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne. JOHNSON, Hazel M. — 94, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away at the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Born in Middlewood, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Fancy) Whynot. She is survived by her five sons: Gardner (Joan), Armond, Algar, Clifford (Donna), all of Brooklyn, Norwood of Maitland Bridge; grandchildren: Carol, Lynn, Steven, Murray, Gail, Randy, Avery, Ian, Cory and Rockey; 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Douglas) Wamboldt of Middlewood, brother, Willie Shoreham Village of Chester. She was predeceased by her husband, C. Clifford; sisters, Maude Walker and Ida Johnson; brothers: Stanford, Herbert, Ferman, Frank and infants, Lloyd and Russell. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool; Rev. Karen Ohrt officiated. Burial will be at a later date following cremation.
