January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 BOYLE, Paul H. — 80, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 14, 2007 in North Queens Nursing Home. Born in Devonshire, Queens County, he was son of the late James and Hilda (Ennis) Boyle. He was a former employee with Parks Canada working at Kejimkujik National Park; he worked as a school bus driver, as well as with the Department of Transportation. He is survived by his daughter, Loretta (Larry) Holdright of Dartmouth; son, Jim (Joy) of Caledonia; grandchildren: Matthew, Mark, Lucas and Kyle; sisters: Pauline, Evelyn and Mildred, all of Caledonia. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Alice M. Canning. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral mass was held Friday, Jan. 19 in St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, West Caledonia; Father Brian Murphy officiated. Burial in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery. January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 Lyda Dorothy (Vaughan) Hiltz - It is with sadness that the family of Lyda Dorothy Hiltz (Vaughan), 93, announces her passing at the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay on January 14, 2007. Lyda was born on September 22, 1913 in Greenfield, Kings County, NS. She was the daughter of the late Woodbury and Laura (Schofield) Vaughan. She was predeceased by her husband, William Henry Hiltz and an infant son. Surviving are her daughter, Judy Eberspaecher (Alex) and sons, Allan (Bernice), Eric (Shirley), and Blake (Irma). Loving grandchildren are Stefan and Andrew Eberspaecher (Shelli); Trevor (Paula), Troy (Kim), Kriss (Deidre), Kendall (Lisa) and Scott Hiltz; Deanna Baker (Paul), Lisa (Philip) Foggoa, and Jason Hiltz; Judi Hann (Clayton), Kenneth (Michelle) and Jocelyn Hiltz. The joy of her life was her great-grandchildren Keegan and Jonah; Megan and Brianna; Olivia and Lance; Kendra and Nathaniel; Stephanie and Matthew; William and Samuel. Lyda is survived by her sisters, Jean Faulkner and Jennie Cormier of Hamilton, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth, Freeman and Howard, and sisters, Bessie, Mabel and Gladys. Lyda's life was centered around family and community. She was a member of the Anglican Church Guild and a Life Member of the Forties Garden Club. Her life-long activity was making beautiful quilts that went to family members and friends around the world, with one being a wedding gift from the people of Nova Scotia to Princess Anne. Special thanks go out to Dr. Heather Robertson, staff of Mahone Nursing Home, friends, Louise Hollingsworth and Janet Acker, the VON, and all the Home Care Workers who looked after Lyda so well over the past few years. Visitation for family and friends was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2006 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The family celebrated Lyda's life at a service at St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, Forties, at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007. Reverend Leonard Bednar officiated. A reception at the Forties Community Centre followed the service. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church or the Rescue Unit of the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 FULLER, Ann Louise - 50 of Marriotts Cove, formerly of Shelburne, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 in South Shore Regional Hospital. Ann, the daughter of Hilda (Nicoll) and the late David Fuller was raised in Shelburne, growing up surrounded by a neighbourhood of friends. In Junior High she was voted, “Best All Round” ideal specimen. Active and athletic, she was a member of the basketball, volleyball and cross country teams. This energy never faltered. Not one to sit still for long, her journey led her to many places and she eventually settled down in Marriott’s Cove with her dog, Boo. Work was her middle name and she was as happy in the woodpile as she was on the set. Annie began working in the film industry in 1994 . Her strong work ethic and many talents brought her respect and admiration in her positions as Property Master and Set Director. The set of “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” had been her workplace for the past five years. She was a lover of fine music and art and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and was a staunch patron. She is survived by her mother, Hilda, Roseway Manor, Shelburne Co., aunts and uncles, Phyllis and Tommy Swaine, Barrington Passage, Mary and Ward Nicoll, Clyde River, Matthew and Dot Cox and Phyllis (Karl) Nicoll, Clyde River; many cousins and friends far and near. A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Jan. 20 in Christ Anglican Church, Harriett St. Shelburne with Rev. Sandra Fyfe officiating. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes Ltd. Shelburne. Memorial donations may be made to the S.H.A.I.D. (no kill shelter for animals).

Feb 3, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. John LeBlanc. Besides her husband, Edward, of 57 years, she is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grand-children, her sisters in Yarmouth, Margaret LeBlanc, Julie Newell, Bob & Mildred White and Mildred Frost all from Yarmouth. She was predeceased by Amos LeBlanc, Celeste Rodgerson, Henry LeBlanc, George LeBlanc, Theresa Goodwin, Marjorie LeBlanc. Funeral was held Jan 16, in Nepean Ontario.She was a Veteran of the second World War.
January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 Olsen, William Arthur “Art” - 83, Overton, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 16, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late William Hill and Flossie May (Lent) Olsen. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of many years, Adele Marie “Addie” (Muise); his sisters, Grace, Oretha, Kathleen; brothers, Keith and Frank. He was a member of Overton Faith Memorial Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the air force in Labrador and Ireland, and he also served as an engineer on the “Beaver” and “Eskimo”. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 61. He was a lobster fisherman and a farmer. He also did veterinary work for many years. He was an avid collector of china tea cups. Mostly every day, you could meet up with him at Tim Horton's, where he met his friends, or at Mac's Garage, or just hanging out at City Drug. He loved to talk and laugh with everyone he met. Art was a proud member of the Liberal Association. He is survived by his sons, Ervin (Amelia) Olsen and Gregory (Lou) Olsen, both of Overton; grandchildren, Denise, April, Leigh, Shane, Matthew and Jody; great-grandchildren, Lucus, Kayleb, Jeremy, Cody, Emma, Raychelle, Raylene, Patrick, Ethan, Kaitlyn, and Candace; special “niece”, Marilyn Bain. Visitation was held Thursday, January 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 service at 7:30 p.m., funeral service Friday, January 19 at 2 p.m., all in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Yarmouth, Rev. Peter Turpin and Rev. Ron Clarke officiated. Spring burial will be in Chegoggin Cemetery. Donations may be made to Tri-County Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of choice. January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 MCKAY, Evelyn Minerva - 79 of Cranes Point, Shelburne County, passed away in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, Shelburne County on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007. Born in Salem, Mass. She was a daughter of the late David and Mildred (MacKenna) McKay. Evelyn was a bookkeeper in Massachussetts for many years before retiring and moving to Nova Scotia in 1983. She is survived by brother, Douglas McKay, Cranes Point, one nephew and two nieces as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by a sister. No visitation and no funeral service by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne with interment in Carleton Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 SEARS, Phyllis Marie — age 82, of East Jordan, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007. Born in Lockeport she was a daughter of the late John and Leona (Roache) Brophy. She was a member of the Lockeport Pentecostal Church for several years as well as a member of the Women’s Ministries of that Church. Phyllis loved to bake and share her baked goods with other people, always thinking of others rather than herself. She is survived by daughters, Joan (John) Owen, London, Ont; Mary Lee Crain, West Virginia; Patricia (Sam) Bower, Lake Deception; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, William Sears; son-in-law, Emmett Crain; brother, Clarence Brophy and sister Mina Munroe. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 in Lockeport Pentecostal Church with Pastor Eric Revie officiating. Interment in Lake John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lockeport Pentecostal church or charity of choice.
January 14, 2007 to January 20, 2007 Linda Gail Buchanan - 57, of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingston, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Rawson) Joyce. Linda worked for over 18 years in the health field. She enjoyed oil painting. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; a son, Christian Rix, Ontario; two step-sons, Rodney (Tracey), Steam Mill; Steven, Halifax; three sisters, Beatrice (Ernie) Wilson, Eileen Larose and Gloria (Doug) Pelkey, all of Ontario; two brothers, Eddie (Lorna) Thompson and Fred Jr. (Colleen) Joyce, both of Ontario; three grandchildren, Marisa, Allyson and Emmitt. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Reverend David Taylor officiated. Donations in memory may be made to the Oncology Centre of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
