December 10, 2006 to December 16, 2006 continued Malcolm Elliott “Uncle Mac� Coldwell - 87, of Lower Wolfville, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on June 21, 1919 in Wolfville Ridge, he was a son of the late Arthur and Agusta (Bishop) Coldwell. He was an army veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas as a gun instructor and sniper. Prior to and following the war he had been employed as a carpenter for M.L. Wallace Contracting and later Acadia University, from where he retired. Mac was a kind and giving person, who put everyone before himself. He loved hunting, fishing and hockey. He reached out to people near and far with his passion of giving away over 600 of his homemade wheelbarrows. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a daughter, Joy Rogers, Lower Wolfville; a son, Blaine (Maxine), Grand Pré; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eva Durling; three sisters, Bessie Moore, Greta Ritchie and Hilda “Pinky� Wright; three brothers, Fred, Arthur and Medford. Visitation was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Service held at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2006. Reverend Gary Manthorne officiated. Burial took place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.

December 10, 2006 to December 16, 2006 continued Edith Anne "Edie" Nowlan - 86, Wolfville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 16, 2006, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on July 4, 1920, in Wolfville, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Edith (Lightfoot) Gilbert. Edie worked as a custodian for a number of years at Acadia University until her retirement. She was also an active member of the Silver and Gold Club, until recent years. Edie especially enjoyed taking the bus to the mall, where she would always run into an old friend or two. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Kenneth) Graves, Waterville; grandchildren, Matthew (Ann Fuller) Graves, Wolfville, Samara Graves, Kentville; great-grandchildren, Sara and Truman Graves, Wolfville; special niece, Carolyn Sullivan (Randolph Zwicker), New Minas; special great-nephews, Andrew Sullivan, Wolfville, and Randy Wayne Zwicker, New Minas, as well as several nieces and nephews. Edie was predeceased by her husband, Arden Nowlan; sisters, Joyce, Helen and Dorothy; granddaughter, Jasmin. Visitation took place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, December 18 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main St., Wolfville (902-542-2151). Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, in St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, Rev. Cathy Lee Cunningham officiated, with burial in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. A reception took place, following the burial, in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville. Family flowers only please, however, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of one's choice. December 10, 2006 to December 16, 2006 continued Linda Ardella Worthen, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in East Baccaro on July 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Alice (Stoddard) O’Connell. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, William; brother, Raymond (Josephine), East Baccaro. The funeral service was held on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at H. Huskilson’s Chapel, Barrington, Preachers Gordon Hazelwood, John Hiltz and Marlene Greer officiating. Burial was held at River Dale Cemetery, Riverhead.
