MAILMAN, Brian Donald - 48, of Lake LaRose, Annapolis County, passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Annapolis Royal, he was a son of the late Donald B. and Freda (Colp) Mailman. He worked for many years as a mason and most recently in the forest industry. Brian enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his fiancé, Ulli Pliefke, Lake LaRose; sisters, Carolyn (Paul) Rice, Parker’s Cove; Sheila (Peter) Kennedy, Sydney, CB; and nieces, Vicky Rice, Lisa, Tara and Laura Kennedy. By request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service was held Thursday, November 16, 2006 in St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Perotte. Archdeacon, Kenneth Vaughan officiated. O’Neil, Lydia Anna - 85 of Inglisville passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the VG Site, QE II Health Sciences Centre. Born at Port George she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Alicia (Taylor) Whitman. Lydia was a former employee of United Elastics (Britex), Bridgetown. She was an active member of the Helping Hands, Inglisville and the Inglisville Baptist Church. Lydia also enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Surviving are daughters Rose Greene, Middleton; Marilyn (Alan) Brown, Bridgetown and Blanche (Lloyd) Greene, Powell River, B.C.; One brother Gordon (Ruth) Whitman, North Bay, ON; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was pre-deceased by her husband Glidden; sisters Gertie and Gladys; brothers Cyril, Clarence, Clyde, Clifford, Allister, Laurie, Wilfred and Gilbert. By family request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service was held Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Middleton Funeral Home (902) 825-3448 Rev. Barbara Bishop officiated. RAFUSE, Gloria Louise -79, of Middleton, NS. It is with deepest sadness that the family of Gloria Rafuse of Middleton, NS, announces her death. Gloria passed away November 16, 2006 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Hayes) White of Phinney’s Cove. Her early life was spent in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where she was a devoted employee at the Medical Centre there-working for the well known Dr. Carmen Kyle for many years. Gloria’s care and devotion was appreciated by all patients. She later worked for the Niagara Parks Commission in Personnel where she showed the same concern for all employees. Gloria will be fondly remembered for her love of family and friends and her home, where with Laurie and Peter the welcome mat was always out. Her keen interest in genealogy put her in touch with folks across Canada, the USA and Germany. She also had a passion for old fashioned rug hooking and she produced many fine pieces. Gloria is survived by her husband, Charles (Laurie); son, Peter, both of Middleton; sisters, Doris Hamilton, Bridgetown; Merlyn Niinep, St. Catherine’s, ON; Roberta White, Bridgetown; several nieces and nephews who through this past year spent time in hospitals and lately Mountain Lea Lodge, have provided comfort and support in her long struggle with health problems. She was predeceased by brothers; Edward and Frank White and sister, Delma Eldred. Special thanks to staff at Mountain Lea Lodge for their great care of Gloria in the past months. Visitation was held Saturday, November 18, 2006 in the Middleton Funeral Home – 398 Main Street (902)825-3448. Funeral service was held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 19, 2006 in the Middleton Baptist Church. Pastor Danny Smith officiated. By request, private family interment will be held in Hampton Cemetery. MERRETT, Gerald Archibald - 66, Ellershouse, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 12, 2006, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late George and Hilda (Aker) Merrett. Gerald enjoyed playing cards, going for drives and sports of all kinds. He is survived by sons, Wade (Ellen), Summerside, P.E.I.; Greg (Pat Perry), Ellershouse; sisters, Vernice Merrett, Kentville; Barb (Lew) Davison, Canaan; brothers, Richard (Judy), Clementsport; Garth (Kathy Gurholt), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Sean. CAMPBELL, Annie Agnes – passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the McMaster Medical Centre, in her 87 year. Annie Campbell loving wife of the late Louis Campball. Beloved mother of Dr. Patricia Barry, Lloyd and his wife Jeannita, Dianne Campbell and Daniel Campbell. Survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-children and her sister Evelyn and her husband Gino Maddalena. Funeral Mass was held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Road, Burlington, Monday, November 20, 2006. Interment at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. CLAYTON, George Fred “Junior� – 74, Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 14, 1932 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late John F. and Mary D. (Melanson) Clayton. He worked as a baker for most of his life, and was a veteran of the Yarmouth Fire Department, Hook & Ladder Co. Junior enjoyed sports and his model train set. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Brenda J. (Deveau) Clayton; a son, Michael (Kathy) Clayton, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; daughters, Shawn Surette, Dartmouth; Robyn (Tim) Clayton, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; Jennifer (Curtis) Saulnier, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau; grandchildren, Justin Clayton, Courtney Clayton, Brittany Saulnier, Rene Saulnier, Jordan Surette, Jessie Surette, Jamie Muise, Christopher Saulnier, Brandis Saulnier, Krista, Mandy, Rhonda, Davild Giles and Candace; brother, Stanley Clayton, Yarmouth; sisters, Lois Smith, Kentucky; Linda McGray, Yarmouth. Weaver, Josephine - 89, Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, formerly of St. Bernard, died November 9, 2006, in Villa Acadienne. born in St. Benoni, she was a daughter of the late Sémide and Aimée (Aubut) Saulnier. She is survived by sons Thomas (Joan), Halifax; Marcel, Julien, both of St. Bernard; grandchildren Kimberly, Mark, Aimée, colette, Nicholas; great-granddughter Avery; sister Rose Emma Doucet, Shrewsbury, Mass.; brothers Denis Saulnier, St. Benoni and Thomas Saulnier, Waltham, Mass. She was predeceased by husband Kenneth; brothers Henry, Alphonse; sisters Catherine in infancy and Madelaine. Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Meteghan Funeral Home. Royce Kempton Nickerson, DOCTOR’S COVE: Royce Kempton Nickerson, 69, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Born in Barrington, he was the son of the late Guy and Annie (Francis) Nickerson. He is survived by his brother, Alpheus, Charleston, Queens County, sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Southall, Ottawa, Ontario, and sister, Gertrude Crowell, Bear Point, Shelburne County. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy; brother, Leonard; sister, Joanne. He served in the Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada, 2nd Battalion, Pipes and Drums Band from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #148, Clark’s Harbour. He worked in a variety of jobs throughout his life, including Kenney & Ross, Port Saxon and Fish Reduction Ltd., Clement’s Pond. He loved playing his guitar with friends and sometimes for events at Bay Vista and at Lewis Head Campground during the past few months. He enjoyed his hunting camp with friends and his loving wife, Judy and family for many years. He loved his church and the close fellowship there at the Advent Christian Church, Bear Point. Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at H. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 in H. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Reverend Rex Hutto officiating. Burial was held in Doctor’s Cove Cemetery beside his loving wife and soul mate, Judy. Helen Violet Wagner, 85, of Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006.
Born in Port Joli, Queens County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Rosella (MacAdams) Theriau.
She was a former employee of C.W. MacLeod’s Fisheries of Port Mouton, was a member of the Golden Years Club of Port Mouton, and the Friendship Club of Liverpool, as well as the Port Mouton United Baptist Sewing Circle.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Mary (Douglas) Huskins of Port Mouton; sons: J. Leander (Faustina) of Summerville Centre, and Maurice of Western Head; grandchildren: Alden and Laura Huskins, Tyler and Spencer Wagner.
She was predeceased by her husband, Angus; daughter-in-law, Pamela; sisters: Lucretia, Priscilla and Dorothy.
Funeral service was held in Port Mouton United Baptist Church, Saturday, Nov. 18; Pastor Mark Holden officiated. Burial in Peaceful Hill Cemetery, Port Mouton.

F.E. Eldora Mundell, 92 of Roseway Manor, formerly of Birchtown passed away in Roseway Manor, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co. on Monday, November 20, 2006. Born in Carleton Village she was a daughter of the late Egbert and Ethel (Perry) Hamilton. Eldora belonged to several charitable organizations. She was an avid “45’s� card player. She was a Caregiver for a number of years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Carleton Village. She is survived by sons, Harold (Vera) Bower, Falmouth; Kenneth (Phyllis) Bower, Sussex, N.B; Thomas (Carol) Bower, Birchtown; daughters, Ethel Garber, Lake Paul, King’s Co; Evelyn (Gordon) Deinstadt, Gunning Cove; Shirley (William) Murphy, Blockhouse; Goldie (Gary) Bower, Ohio; sister, Mildred Smith, Ingomar; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; step sons, Robert (Bob), Junior (Joseph); step-daughters, Lorraine, Phyllis, Heather, Jean, Ardeth. She was predeceased by first husband, Harold C.
