CLAYTON, George Fred “Junior� – 74, Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 14, 1932 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late John F. and Mary D. (Melanson) Clayton. He worked as a baker for most of his life, and was a veteran of the Yarmouth Fire Department, Hook & Ladder Co. Junior enjoyed sports and his model train set. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Brenda J. (Deveau) Clayton; a son, Michael (Kathy) Clayton, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; daughters, Shawn Surette, Dartmouth; Robyn (Tim) Clayton, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; Jennifer (Curtis) Saulnier, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau; grandchildren, Justin Clayton, Courtney Clayton, Brittany Saulnier, Rene Saulnier, Jordan Surette, Jessie Surette, Jamie Muise, Christopher Saulnier, Brandis Saulnier, Krista, Mandy, Rhonda, Davild Giles and Candace; brother, Stanley Clayton, Yarmouth; sisters, Lois Smith, Kentucky; Linda McGray, Yarmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kevin Clayton. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday, November 15 with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10 AM, Thursday, November 16, from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert Street, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Weaver, Josephine - 89, Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, formerly of St. Bernard, died November 9, 2006, in Villa Acadienne. born in St. Benoni, she was a daughter of the late Sémide and Aimée (Aubut) Saulnier. She is survived by sons Thomas (Joan), Halifax; Marcel, Julien, both of St. Bernard; grandchildren Kimberly, Mark, Aimée, colette, Nicholas; great-granddughter Avery; sister Rose Emma Doucet, Shrewsbury, Mass.; brothers Denis Saulnier, St. Benoni and Thomas Saulnier, Waltham, Mass. She was predeceased by husband Kenneth; brothers Henry, Alphonse; sisters Catherine in infancy and Madelaine. Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Meteghan Funeral Home. The funeral was held 10 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2006 in St. Bernard Church, Rev. Albeni d'Entremont officiated. Interment in the parish cemetery. WAGNER, HELEN VIOLET - Helen Violet Wagner, 85, of Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006. Born in Port Joli, Queens County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Rosella (MacAdams) Theriau. She was a former employee of C.W. MacLeod’s Fisheries of Port Mouton, was a member of the Golden Years Club of Port Mouton, and the Friendship Club of Liverpool, as well as the Port Mouton United Baptist Sewing Circle. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Mary (Douglas) Huskins of Port Mouton; sons: J. Leander (Faustina) of Summerville Centre, and Maurice of Western Head; grandchildren: Alden and Laura Huskins, Tyler and Spencer Wagner. She was predeceased by her husband, Angus; daughter-in-law, Pamela; sisters: Lucretia, Priscilla and Dorothy. Funeral service was held in Port Mouton United Baptist Church, Saturday, Nov. 18; Pastor Mark Holden officiated. Burial in Peaceful Hill Cemetery, Port Mouton. Royce Kempton Nickerson - DOCTOR’S COVE: Royce Kempton Nickerson, 69, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Born in Barrington, he was the son of the late Guy and Annie (Francis) Nickerson. He is survived by his brother, Alpheus, Charleston, Queens County, sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Southall, Ottawa, Ontario, and sister, Gertrude Crowell, Bear Point, Shelburne County. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy; brother, Leonard; sister, Joanne. He served in the Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada, 2nd Battalion, Pipes and Drums Band from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #148, Clark’s Harbour. He worked in a variety of jobs throughout his life, including Kenney & Ross, Port Saxon and Fish Reduction Ltd., Clement’s Pond. He loved playing his guitar with friends and sometimes for events at Bay Vista and at Lewis Head Campground during the past few months. He enjoyed his hunting camp with friends and his loving wife, Judy and family for many years. He loved his church and the close fellowship there at the Advent Christian Church, Bear Point. Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at H. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 in H. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Reverend Rex Hutto officiating. Burial was held in Doctor’s Cove Cemetery beside his loving wife and soul mate, Judy. Eleanor Bartlett Lapham, 94, died peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2006 at her home at the Kendal-Crosslands Community. A native of Newfoundland and daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. John W. Bartlett, Mrs. Lapham graduated from Mt. Allison University in New Brunswick. She married John Alfred Weingart Jr. of Shelburne, Nova Scotia in 1936 and settled in Port Washington, Long Island where she was surrounded by a supportive group of friends, especially when Mr. Weingart died in 1951. She was a gracious hostess and an avid tennis player and golfer. Mrs. Lapham became a naturalized US Citizen in 1952. After establishing and running a private nursery school, she taught fourth grade at the Greenvale School in Locust Valley. She married Edward M. Lapham Jr. in 1966. They travelled widely and enjoyed entertaining and golf. They moved to Kendal in 1986, where Mr. Lapham died in 1990. Mrs. Lapham sang, entertained and real aloud to friends at Kendal. Her son, John B. Weingart of Kentfield, CA, her daughters, Eleanor Ann Teig of Oslo, Norway, and Elizabeth Forbes Cullen of West Chester, PA, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren survive Mrs. Lapham. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Kendal. Arrangements are being handled by Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, Kennett Square, PA. Mary J. Buckley (nee Hopkins), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November, 2006 surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Cecil, and all 12 of her brothers and sisters, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Norma Stead, Pat Hudson (Bob) and Maureen Sholes (David); her grandchildren, Cathy and John Stead, Mary, Margaret and Dianne Hudson, Julia Nasadyk (Mike), Adrienne Sholes, Pamela Sellin and Stacey Skippen (James); four great grandchildren, Chantelle and Christy Stead, Joshua and Tyler Nasadyk. Reverend Canon Jack Phelps conducted a memorial service in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, Kamloops, B.C., on Monday, November 20, 2006. BERRY, Rita Marion – 76, South Ohio, passed away November 16, 2006, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on July 22, 1930, in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Vera Emily (Rogers) Huskins. She enjoyed gardening and doing lawn work. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Rick) Warner, Kemptville; daughter-in-law, Susan Mae Berry, Pembroke; sister, Rosalie Fitzgerald, South Ohio; Doris Muise, Georgetown, Ont.; grandson, Eric; granddaughters, Brandy and Gyspy; great-grandchildren, Jack and Glace, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Jack; brothers, Edgar and Roy; sisters, June, Joyce, Virlie and Hazel. Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 from 7-9 p.m., and funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Bev Densmore officiated, both in Sweeny's Funeral Home. Donald K. Nickerson, 70, set sail for the last time on Friday, November 17, 2006. Being a fisherman all his working life, he lived and fished at Forbes Point, Shelburne County. After retiring a few years ago, he loved to help his sons with their fishing careers. Donald and his loving dog, Babe, kept in touch with local fishermen every day. Born in Woods Harbour on July 30, 1936, he was a son of Whitman Nickerson and Allie Pepin (Jeffrey). He is survived and sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, the former Ruby Nickerson; sons, Larry (Althea), Forbes Point, Bruce (Doreen), Wellington, Timmy (Valerie), Forbes Point, Todd (Lynn), Charlesville; daughter, Debbie (Marvin) Mood, Woods Harbour; 20 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Also surviving are sisters, Mary (Douglas), Woods Harbour, Sandra, British Columbia. He was predeceased by brother, Willard and granddaughter, Callie. Donald will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A private gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date. DOUCETTE, James Henry – 58, Lower Eel Brook, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2006 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 4, 1948 in Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Harry and Frances (LeBlanc) Doucette. Henry worked as a laborer in the field of construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed upholstering furniture, farming and especially spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Mary (Doucette) Doucette; his children, Troy Doucette (Susan DeViller), Lower Eel Brook; Tina (Kevin) Muise, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; Charlene (Kevin) Hudson, Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Suzanne and Ashley Doucette, Samantha and Natasha Melanson and Matthew Muise; brothers, Raymond (Pearl) Doucette, Belleville; Clarence (Virginia) Doucette, Tusket; Richard (Gail) Doucette, Hubbard’s Point; Neil (Cindy) Doucette, Tusket; sisters, Shirley (Gilbert) Deveau, June (Johnny) Deveau, both of Salmon River; Joan (Tommy) Hubbard, Hubbard’s Point; Norma (Augustin) d’Entremont, West Pubnico; Evelyn (Warren) Bourque, Lake Charles, Louisiana; Diane (David) Muise, Hubbard’s Point; many nieces and nephews. AMIRO, J. Bernard – 93, of Yarmouth, formerly of Pubnico Head, passed away November 18, 2006, in Tidal View Manor. Born on July 1, 1913, in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Joseph Anthony and Mary (Surette) Amiro. He served in the Canadian Army with the Army Engineers, and was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 94, Argyle and Pubnico, where he was a past president. He was also a member of the Pubnico Lion's Club. He worked for CNR Express for many years. He is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Nickerson; daughters, Maureen (Fred) Mansell, Shoal Lake, Man.; Florence Maynard, Yarmouth; sons, James (Emily), Brooklyn; Burton (Alice), Truro; Rev. Larry (Fiona), Parkhill, Ont.; George (Rosalie), Beaver Bank; brother, Clifford, Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Marjorie McGrath, Halifax; Kathleen Rawlings, Dartmouth; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Irvin; sisters, Evelyn, Jean and Alta; brothers, Douglas and Irvin. Donations may be made to the A-Wing of Tidal View Manor or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
