Letter to the Yarmouth Vanguard
Forty-three dead from our country in Afghanistan, guns in Canada and the RCMP officers who were killed by them, funding for medicine for terminally ill without insurance, getting quality and needed treatment for all autisti children in Canada, global warming and our future, water quality in our country, violence in our Canadian cities… these are just a few of the topics that I expect our MPs and those in political offices in Canada to be focusing their time and efforts on…not name-calling and checking into faxes sent by other MPs.

I cannot imagine the time wasted and the costs involved with checking into one fax. Why can’t the people who feel items like this are an issue that need to be mentioned simply pick up the phone and call the person involved.

You could say something like this, “You know, it’s not appropriate to allow your fax to be used for non-parliament business, please remember this in the future. Wow! A one-minute phone call could probably solve the entire problem and then no one would have to listen to it being dealt with in the House of Commons where it is a colossal waste of time and resources there.

I am starting to feel ashamed of all the coverage that does come out of our

House of Commons…and if I were a family member of one of the RCMP officers killed in recent years or family of those serving Canada in Afghanistan I would be appalled to think that topics like 17-cent faxes are what our MPs feel is worth discussing in Parliament.

Grow up please. And start serving your country as you should, with as much dedication and professionalism as the soldiers fighting in your name in other countries or the RCMP and police officers and countless other groups of people who work daily to keep our cities and towns and citizens safe, healthy and happy to live in Canada.
