October 29 to November 4, 2006 continued BOHAKER, Mary Marguerite - 92, born in Saulnierville, Digby Co., died in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Funeral mass to be held at a later in St Louis Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Anglican Church Cemetery, Karsdale.
October 29 to November 4, 2006 continued GROSVOLD, Leo - 86, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away Saturday, November 4, 2006, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Norway, he was the son of the late Halvard and Inga Grosvold. Leo had worked for Parsons Construction for years and was a member of Christ Church Anglican, Windsor. He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle K. Faulkner, son, Father Darrell Grosvold, London, Ont.; daughter, Sheila (Eric) Graves, Aylesford Lake; grandchildren, Brock (Janice) Harrington, Indiana, Ind.; Holly Harrington (Mario), Austin, Tex.; Brook (Charity) Harrington, Lower Sackville; Cindy Graves, Moncton; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ava Harrington, Olivia Yanez, and Keller Harrington. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leo may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South St., Suite 1, Halifax, NS B3H 1S6. October 29 to November 4, 2006 continued Louise Ellen BROWN (Misner) (Balsor) - 90, Grafton, Kings Co., formerly of Woodville and New Ross, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 4, 2006, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born July 5, 1916, in Black Rock, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Marion (Foote) Balsor. Louise was a member of Black Rock Baptist Church and various church organizations, and also taught Sunday school. She enjoyed the art of quilting and rug hooking. She spent many years making a happy home for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, along with cooking for apple pickers and in logging camps, opening her heart to many. Surviving are daughters, Ardythe (Robert) Arnold, Eunice (Art) Patton, Wilma (John) Hazelwood, Wanda Harding; son, Aldrich (Ann) Misner; stepson, Gary (Katherine) Brown; 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Gould; brothers, Harry, Vance (Grace), Earl, and Myles (Marion); brother-in-law, Glendon Schnare; many nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her first husband, William Misner, and second husband, Morley Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Leroy Fanning; son, Lawrence Misner; sister, Vivian Schnare; brothers, Frank, George; brother-in-law, Walter Gould; sisters-in-law, Alice and Dorothy Balsor. Visitation was 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. November 7 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151), where funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, Rev. Murray Shaw officiated, with burial in East Black Rock Cemetery. October 29 to November 4, 2006 continued Helen M. Dill of Hamilton, formerly of 336 Main Street, Middleton, passed away suddenly on November 1 at home in her 80th year. She was the daughter of the late George R. and Jennie (Stevenson) Chalmers. Surviving are sons Paul A. (Susan) and George of Hamilton; grandchildren Wendy (Todd) Burnham of Medicine Hat, AB and Trevor (Sarah) Dill of Oshawa, ON; great-grandchildren Cassidy Burnham and Chance Burnham; sister Jean (Bill) White of Vaudreuil, PQ; sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Jack, George, Joe, and her loving husband of 58 years, Paul (2002) following which she resided in Hamilton. Funeral service was held on November 18 at the Montreal Memorial Gardens Chapel.
October 29 to November 4, 2006 continued Gordon Leslie Stewart, 71, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at his home in East Baccaro. He was the son of the late Oscar and Josephine (Nickerson) Stewart. He is survived by two nieces, Mary Greenwood, Shag Harbour, Judy Barkhouse, Shag Harbour; four nephews, Alvin, Carl, Gary Barkhouse, Shag Harbour, and Basil Barkhouse, Charlesville. He was deceased by a brother, Allison; sister, Mary. The funeral service was held on Sunday, November 5, 2006 in H. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Barrington, Pastor Kevin Carr officiating. Burial took place in Woodside Cemetery, Port LaTour. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
