Letter to The Advertiser
To the Editor:

With regard to Kevin Carter’s letter of last week (The Advertiser, Nov. 7, 2006, “Photo too much for New Minas subscriber), Mr. Carter attempts to deflect any possible criticism of his letter within his letter.

He did a poor job. Let me point out a few angles you can’t turn aside so easily. He says he keeps the remote in his hand to avoid “inappropriate commercials that may appear during a hockey game, but he’s okay with the morality of a bunch of spoiled millionaires beating each other senseless under the guise of sport? THIS is suitable entertainment for your family?

As for Mr. Carter “paying taxes that school other people’s children, imagine how I feel paying those same taxes with NO children. Home schooling your children is your choice, but I haven’t been presented with any choice in paying those same taxes.

Mr. Carter, if you actually believe that the WOW calendar is “soft porn, you probably should watch more TV because it’s obvious you lead too sheltered an existence.

So (like you) I will go on, “tolerating society’s views of immorality, not by canceling newspaper subscriptions, but encouraging people to look at what these fine people were trying to say with this calendar.

Have a look at your calendar, sir, and see if it reads 2006 or 1906.
