More support for high-speed Internet
From the Yarmouth Vanguard
I wanted to write in to support John Robert who wrote in with "Elected reps should fight for high-speed Internet" on Oct. 31.

I couldn't agree more that we're seriously lacking when it comes to connecting rural Nova Scotians with high speed Internet. Myself, like Mr. Robert, can only connect with an unreliable dial up connection where using it for anything but basic tasks is impossible. In a time when connecting to work from home during a blizzard would save me a vacation or sick day, I get to put my new snow tires to good use on roads not fit for travel.

I think the idea to offer pricing based on the quality of service available is fantastic considering Aliant's dial up service is only $8 less than high speed while the quality you get is abysmal. This might have been acceptable 10 years ago, but it's almost 2007 and I'm still waiting for news.

At this point I've given up hope of ever seeing high speed in my area, or that any of my elected officials will ever care enough to fight for this service on my behalf. I'd give them a call myself but my phone line is all tied up trying to send this email.
