When is a development agreement not a development agreement
Letter to the Yarmouth Vanguard
With a little three-inch by six-inch notice in the newspaper a few weeks ago and some public apathy (as in “do nothing), the minimum requirements for rezoning a lot (maybe the lot beside you, certainly the lot beside me) will be reduced by 10 per cent. That means that the house beside me on Parade Street (and maybe the one beside you on your street) can be rezoned to become an eight-plus unit apartment, incidentally using my narrow driveway for access (another story).
The Town Planning Advisory Committee will hold a public participation meeting on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. to see whether we care. We certainly care and we ask all our friends and anyone else who feels the current lot requirements are already sufficient to join us at the council chambers of the Town Hall to say “NO to this proposed amendment to the development agreement.
