Kick-start your morning with the heart-health benefits of pysllium fibre. Studies show that eating 3 grams or more of psyllium fibre every day, as part of a healthy diet, can lower your blood cholesterol by up to 10 per cent in as little as 4 weeks.

This easy recipe makes 20 to 25 muffins that can be frozen in individual baggies for a perfect on-the-go snack.

Ingredients

300 ml (1 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour

7 ml (1 1/2 tsp) baking powder

2 ml (1/2 tsp) baking soda

1 ml (1/4 tsp) salt

375 ml (1 1/2 cups) Kellogg's All-Bran Buds cereal with psyllium

300 ml (1 1/4 cups) milk

50 ml (1/4 cup) vegetable oil

75 ml (1/3 cup) molasses

1 egg

125 ml (1/2 cup) raisins

Directions

Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine cereal and milk. Let stand for 2 minutes or until cereal is softened. Add oil, molasses and egg. Beat well. Stir in raisins.

Add flour mixture, stirring just until combined. Portion batter evenly into 12 greased or paper-lined 6 cm (2 1/2") muffin-pan cups.

Bake at 200°C (400°F) 20-25 minutes or until firm to the touch.
