Given forecasts of rain for Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday, organizers of this weekend's annual Christmas Parade of Lights have opted to move the event back one day to Sunday.

So instead of being held on Saturday, the parade will instead take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.

The theme of this year's parade is Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

Parade organizer Barb Firth says given the forecast of rain it would be difficult for parade participants to decorate their floats and have their entries ready in time for a Saturday parade.

Parade participants will still be required to be on site at the start of the parade route by 4:30 p.m. on Sunday if they want their entry to be judged. The winning entries will be selected prior to the parade.

Firth says anyone involved with the parade who has questions or requires further information can contact the parade line at 742-3998.

Chosen as this year's parade marshal is Winnie Surette, a resident who volunteers for the community on a regular basis.

The parade will follow the same route as always: starting at the intersection of Argyle and Main streets, proceeding up Main Street to Starrs Road, then to Octane Auto Sales.

Parade watchers are asked not to park in the Octane Auto parking lot, as the parade will be pulling in and there is limited parking space. Those picking up children are asked to park around the back.
