A week of missing puppies and lost cows

Police had a relatively normal week responding to calls ranging from erratic drivers to a few break and enters.

Annapolis police responded to 76 calls for assistance during the week of November 9 through November 16. Among these were two false alarms, four false 911s, 12 traffic incidents, and 15 domestic matters. Following are highlights of these calls:

-- November 9 at 1:15 p.m. A Middleton caller reported seeing a blue dirt bike driving up and down the road. A patrol was made, but failed to locate the bike.

-- November 9 at 3:20 p.m. Police were called in response to a motor vehicle accident after a motorist struck a power pole. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was salvageable. The driver couldn’t see the pole due to glare from the sun.

-- November 9 at 6:29 p.m. A Granville Ferry resident reported a break and enter into a home. Some items were stolen, the investigation continues.

-- November 9 at 8:18 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle was parked at a former business. A patrol was made and determined that a music video was being filmed.

-- November 9 at 8:42 p.m. A report of a breech of a court order resulted in the arrest of a Lawrencetown woman. The offender was taken to court the following day and dealt with accordingly.

-- November 10 at 4:42 p.m. Lawrencetown. A citizen contacted police after a suspicious person was banging on the door. The matter was resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned.

-- November 10 at 5:58 p.m. Port wade. A citizen contacted police after hearing shots fired. The matter was referred to DNR. Police suspect deer poaching.

-- November 10 at 6:30 p.m. Bridgetown. A caller reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the driveway. Police identified the driver and determined that the incident was not criminal in nature.

-- November 10 at 11:49 p.m. Middleton. A noise complaint resulted in the arrest of one drunken male for the violation of the conditions of a court order. He was lodged in cells and released for a court appearance.

-- November 11 at 12:59 a.m. Halifax police requested assistance in the arrest of a male following an incident in Halifax. The individual was processed and scheduled to appear in Halifax court in January.

-- November 11 at 1:06 a.m. West Springfield. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle was in the ditch. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was removed.

-- November 11 at 10:50 a.m. West Paradise. A caller reported that two golden retriever puppies were stolen from a residence.

-- November 11 at 12:36 p.m. A caller reported a break and enter into cottages in Granville Centre. A number of items were stolen. Police recovered some of the loot; suspects are in custody. Investigation continues.

-- November 11 at 12:37 p.m. Wilmot. A property owner contacted police to report previous tenants for growing marijuana. The tenants have since left the area. Police confirmed evidence of a marijuana grow.

-- November 11 at 12:35 p.m. A Middleton caller reported seeing a blue dirt bike driving on the road.

-- November 11 at 1:41 p.m. A caller reported a break and enter into a residence in Granville Ferry. A number of items were taken including a laptop and a Wii game. The investigation continues.

-- November 11 at 5:23 p.m. Graywood. A gate on a private road was damaged. It appears that someone used a vehicle to smash it down.

-- November 11 at 6:27 p.m. Middleton. A caller reported that an individual in a vehicle was yelling at kids. A patrol was made and found a parent engaging with rowdy children.

-- November 11 at 4:55 p.m. Bridgetown. The owner of a vehicle reported that it had been scratched and one of the tires was flat.

-- November 12 at 4:38 a.m. A Middleton caller reported hearing an animal in distress on the old railroad track. Police determined that no animal was in distress, but one cow may have been separated from the herd.

-- November 12 at 2:16 p.m. A 911 hang-up call in Bear River east resulted in the arrest of one male for assault and violation of conditions.

-- November 12 at 4:40 p.m. Police were called to Wilmot in response to a landlord tenant dispute. The matter was resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

-- November 12 at 8:29 p.m. Meadowvale. An erratic driver report resulted in police locating the driver and determining the incident was caused by poor visibility caused by the driver using daytime running lights rather than headlights.

-- November 13 at 10:12 a.m. Police were called to a Bridgetown school after the principal discovered graffiti had been sprayed on the school during the night.

-- November 14 at 7:09 a.m. Lawrencetown. Police are investigating a possible breech of a conditional sentence.

-- November 14 at 7:28 p.m. A 911 hang-up call at the Middleton rink resulted in a police patrol. Police credit a youth for taking responsibility for the prank call. No further police intervention required.

-- November 15 at 2:36 a.m. Middleton. A report of an erratic and possibly intoxicated driver resulted in a patrol intercepting the vehicle. The driver showed no signs of impairment.

-- November 15 at 3:38 a.m. Police were called to Springfield following a report of a possible breech of conditions. Police were unable to substantiate if a violation occurred.
