Mariners come from 3-0 deficit to tie game and send it to overtime
The Campbellton Tigers edged the Yarmouth Mariners 4-3 in a shootout Thursday night in Yarmouth.
Jared Hicks led the Tigers with two goals while Ryan Nickerson led the Mariners with one goal and 1one assist.



On the powerplay Zack Evans-Renaud opened the scoring at 15:06 to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Hicks scored 19 seconds later at 15:25 to extend the lead to 2-0 after the first period. Hicks’ second goal of game, scored at 1:12, increased the lead to 3-0. Nickerson scored shorthanded at 18:17 to cut the lead to 3-1 after the second period. Michael Crawley, on the powerplay, scored at 4:53 to get the Mariners to within a goal at 3-2. Nick Gouthro completed the comeback when he scored at 17:46 to tie the game at 3-3 and send it into overtime.

With no scoring in overtime the teams went to a shootout. Nickerson scored for the Mariners while Hicks and Jake Guindon (game winner) scored for the Tigers.



Both teams went one for five on the powerplay.

John Hillier stopped 36 of 39 shots for the tie while Charles Grant stopped 26 of 29 shots also in the tie.

The Mariners play the Pictou County Weeks Crushers at the Mariners Centre on Friday night. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
