County sets up meetings on Lifeplex
Warden says council wants public input and to hear residents’ concerns
The Municipality of the County of Annapolis is inviting the public to attend two sessions of a special Committee of the Whole to discuss the Lifeplex Wellness Centre located in Cornwallis Park.

“Council is reacting to concerns that have been expressed regarding the financial viability of the facility,” said Annapolis County Warden Peter Newton. “After reviewing the history and contract documents we are now ready to explore the financial statements, and listen to input from the public. That is the purpose for these meetings.”

The first session will be taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall. During this meeting the Annapolis County director of finance, Gerald Hackenschmidt will be presenting the historical financial information of the Lifeplex Wellness Centre to Committee of the Whole.

The second session is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Lawrencetown Fire Hall. This meeting will be an opportunity for the public to provide their input regarding the Lifeplex Wellness Centre. Each person will have a five-minute interval to share their comments.

“The opinion of our residents is important when making decisions,” said Newton. “It is our hope the turn-out to these sessions is good; firstly, so everyone can receive a solid financial background regarding the issue, and secondly, so we may hear what the public has to say.”
