Barrington RCMP hope to curb Halloween hijinks
The Barrington RCMP is preparing for Halloween night and will have extra resources on hand for the evening.
The detachment is also asking for the public’s help to report incidents and report on any planned disorder for the evening, hoping this proactive approach will help curtail problems on Halloween night as it did in the past few years.
The RCMP is asking anyone who hears rumors of planned activities on Halloween night to contact them or Crimestoppers.
Halloween vandalism and disorder has diminished since its high point in 2006 when close to 30 charges were laid against four adults and four young offenders as a result of Halloween vandalism in Woods Harbour.
During that Halloweeen, RCMP officers and fire fighters from the Woods Harbour Volunteer Fire Department suffered rocks, eggs, and liquor bottles thrown at them from a mob of people as they attempted to respond to injured persons, quell disturbances, and douse several fires intentionally set in the community.
