Smith, Jared William - 88, of Cambridge, Kings County, formerly of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, October 5, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Prince William, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Albert and Margaret (McNutt) Smith. He received his early education in the one-room schoolhouse in Prince William, receiving his grade eight. He studied both grades nine and ten on his own and later graduated from Fredericton High School. He worked for a year on his brother’s poultry farm and was stimulated to further his education by attending MacDonald College in Quebec to study poultry. His post secondary education was interrupted as he enlisted as a wireless mechanic with the No. 6 Bomber Command, serving overseas for the final three years of the Second World War. Following the war, he returned to MacDonald College to complete his studies and met and married his wife, the former Barbara Walsh of Hemmingford, Quebec. Upon graduation from MacDonald College, he worked in Ottawa for two years and was later employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, Poultry Division, retiring in 1980. In retirement, he spent his winters in Tucson, Arizona, where he became active within his community for over 20 years. Summers were spent with family and friends in Kentville and surrounding area. He had been active in square and round dancing for 30 years and together with Barb, was a member of Vali Dancers, Cambridge and Haley Dancers, Kentville. He had impeccable penmanship and was gifted in calligraphy and pen sketching. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville; the I.O.O.F. Hiawatha Lodge, Kentville and had been an active member of the Kentville United Baptist Church, where he was involved in the Sunday school program, the Board of Trustees, scouting, ushering and as a greeter. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; three sons, Kenneth (Lynne), Bridgewater; Doug (Sheila), Moncton; Frederick (Debbie), Dawson Creek, British Columbia; eight grandchildren, Kari, Troy, Adam, Michael, Kyle, Ian, Quintin and Isaac; four great grandchildren, Kelsey, Skyler, Ava and Abigail; many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by three brothers, Karl, Harold and Ted; a foster brother, Norman Preston (all of Fredericton, New Brunswick). Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A combined Royal Canadian Legion service and funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. ADAMS, Kendrick Elias Weston, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at his home in Shag Harbour after a lengthy illness. Born April 28, 1923 in Bear Point, he was the oldest son of George and Louisa (Smith) Adams. Kendrick was a lobster fisherman most of his working years and for many summers he also worked on the Lake Boats in Ontario. He was gifted in woodworking and worked part time in Stanley Greenwood’s Boat Shop. He was a Veteran of the Second World War serving in the R.C.A.F., Marine Squadron. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Deloris Adams (Swim); sons, Randy, George Lee (Carlene), Shag Harbour; daughter, Anne Marie (Brendon) Baird, Fox Trot, Newfoundland; three grandsons, Weston, Nathan, Zachary; sister, Beulah Keddy, Berwick; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Olive, Ruth (in infancy), Erma, Nellie; brother, Loraine. Graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 7 at the Old Farm Cemetery, Shag Harbour. DOUCET, Elizabeth “Jean” - 64, Yarmouth, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Melville Lodge, Halifax. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Sadie (Ward) Allen. Jean had many hobbies including knitting and reading, but she most enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets in her spare time. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by children, Kimberly "Kim" Doucet, Ontario; James "Jim" Doucet (Michelle), Ontario; Joanne Henneberry (Tom), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jonathan Doucet, Peyton and Luke Henneberry; brother in-law, Gerald Muise, Yarmouth. She was predeceased by sister, Marjorie Muise. Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at Sweeny's Funeral Home, 567 Main Street, Yarmouth (742-3245), on Friday, October 16 at 1 PM. Paul, Gerald James "Gerry" – 65, Glooscap First Nation, Bishopville, Hants Co., passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday, October 5, 2009. Born in Bear River, he was a son of the late Andrew and Viola (Peters) Paul. Gerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a well known figure in his community and was a very humble man of few words, however, he was heard when he did speak. Gerry was a great craftsman and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and hobby farming. He is survived by his wife, the former Dianna Guitar; sons, Gerald "Jay" (Shelley) Halliday, Hampton, N.B.; Michael (Tammy) Halliday, Glooscap First Nation; Keith Boudreau, Kingston; daughters, Charlotte (David) Smith and Suzan (David) McLellan, both of Glooscap First Nation; brother, Lloyd (Martha) Paul, Saint John, N.B.; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild, as well as many other extended family members. Besides his parents, Gerry was predeceased by sons, Robert and Raymond Dickison. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes - DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There was no formal visitation, however, friends and family were welcome to visit the family home at anytime up until Friday morning. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, in St. Joseph's Chapel, Glooscap First Nation, Bishopville, Rev. Father Michael Walsh officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Glooscap First Nation Cemetery. A reception immediately followed the service in the Glooscap First Nation Hall. WOTTON, Pearl Isa – 86 of Wilmot, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Hilda (Robar) Robar. In her earlier years, Pearl worked for Canadian Canners and Scotian Gold, Middleton. Pearl was a member of the Wilmot Women’s Institute and had been involved with the Wilmot Scouting movement, Girl Guides of Canada and was a CGIT Leader. Pearl loved square dancing with the Heart of the Valley Twirlers, Berwick Bells and Bows and the Rainbow Dancers. She loved baking, canning, taking care of and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially appreciated the special care given to her by her granddaughters, Angie and Niki. Pearl is survived by her husband of 65 years, George “Bud” Wotton, Wilmot; daughters, Sharon (Keith) Leonard, South Williamston; Wendy (John) Black, Lower Sackville, NS; Patricia (Bill) Gillis and Diane (David) Balcom, both of Nictaux; sons, Stewart Wotton (Evelyn Shaw) and Larry (Debbie) Wotton, both of Wilmot, brother, Carl (Gloria) Robar, Middleton; sisters-in-law, Amanda Robar, Wilmot; Helen Joudrey and Ruth Baker both of Pleasantville, 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Wile, Cora Margaret - 90, of Woodville, Kings County, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lakeville, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Greene) Johnstone. She lived in Toronto for a number of years and cared for many children in her home, considering them family. She enjoyed crafts, playing games and having family gatherings in her home. DEVEAU, Lula Mae – 93, of Tidal View Manor, formerly of Dayton, Yarmouth Co., passed away October 6, 2009 in Tidal View Manor. Born December 5, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Uzena Acker of Birchtown, Shelburne Co. and Orlando Samuel Blades of East Pubnico, Yarmouth Co. She moved to Yarmouth when she was 17 and went to work at Woolworth’s 5 & 10. Later, she worked for the McLeod family as a housekeeper and travelled with them to New York where she spent a year. Returning home, she worked for the Don Raymond family on property currently known as the Manor Inn, as a pastry cook where she later met and married her husband Dennis and began raising her family. She was much loved by her children and grandchildren. She loved to play Canasta and Bingo, but her pride and joy was entertaining her family and friends at home or at the family cottage. Her beauty, warmth and wit made her popular wherever she went right up to her last days and will long be remembered by all those who loved her. She is survived by son, Bernard “Bernie” Deveau; daughters, Carol (Mrs. Ed Wright), Halifax; Judith “Judy”, Dayton; sisters, Mineva Deveau, Dayton; Gladys Finlay, North Carolina; brother, Paul Thompson, B.C.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. HUBBARD, George William – 75, Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., passed away at home on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 26, 1934 in Yarmouth. George was a marine engineer, having worked aboard the Mohawk, a supply ship that ran between Yarmouth and Saint John, and then aboard the Irving Oak, a tugboat out of Saint John. George loved hunting, playing poker, gardening, picking berries, and living in the country. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Hubbard, as well as by his step-father, John Hamilton. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Rose Anna (Muise) Hubbard, as well as his children, Jason Doucette, Springhaven; Brian (Gail) Doucette, Gavelton; Clyde Doucette (Sheila Jacquard), Springhaven; Marsha (Burton) Fraughton and Gail (Roy) Fraughton, both of Quinan; grandchildren, Joanne Brannen, Kara Brush, Desmond Doucette, Jade Doucette, Kyle Jacquard, Erica Jacquard, Jared Fraughton, Emma Fraughton; great grandchildren, Evan Brannen, Emily Goreham, Cameron Doucette, Jaden Vacon and Madison Vacon. Helen Margaret Doyle - 97, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 in the home. Born in South Alton, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Quigley) Doyle. She attended school in South Alton, then graduated from Mack Business College and was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kentville. In 1960, she married Leonard Doyle and moved to the United States, living in Waltham and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She returned to Nova Scotia in 1999 to be close to family. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville and had been active with the Catholic Women’s League. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Rose Doyle, South Alton; a niece, Margaret (Tony) vanKippersluis, South Alton; three nephews, Brian (Debbie), Frank and Terry (Teresa), all of South Alton; 11 great nieces and nephews, Martin vanKippersluis, Karena vanKippersluis (Bungay), Deanna Doyle, Krista Doyle, Ryan Doyle, Rebecca Cherry, Melissa Gillis, David Doyle, Nadine Doyle, Emily Seaboyer and Brennan Doyle; four great great nieces and nephews, Andrew, Annika, Logan and Vanessa. EASTWOOD (Acker) Donna Marie - 62, of Moncton, N.B., formerly of Birchtown, N.S. passed away peacefully at her home surrounded with loving family at her side on Sunday October 4. She was a wonderful and adored mother, sister, and grandmother. All those who knew her admired her for her strength, compassion and selfless love for family and friends. Her passions included playing cards, reading, her love of horses and the unconditional love she received from her feline companions Snookie and Mo-Jo. The ocean brought her emotional peace and her faith gave her strength to the end. It will be difficult to imagine not being around her infectious smile and energy. Living through her children’s eyes was her greatest pleasure. Mom will be forever missed by her children Jody (Mary Jo) Holden of Toronto, Cory (Kelly) Holden of Moncton, Toby Holden of Moncton, Angela Holden of Moncton, Ryan (Liala) Eastwood of Calgary, and stepson Ashley Eastwood of Riverview. She was a loving grandmother to Lindsay, Zachary, William, Laura and Curtis. She is also survived by her sister Lynn (Acker) Strang of Dartmouth. Donna was predeceased by her father Lindsay Acker, mother Violet (Woodley) Acker, brother Lloyd Acker and her infant daughter Rita Marie Holden. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Passage Funeral Services, Moncton N.B. There will be no visitation. There will be two receptions to celebrate Donna s life. The first reception will be held at the Birchtown Community Center in Birchtown N.S. on Thursday, the 8th of October from 6 to 9 pm. The second reception will be held at the Mapleton Park Rotary Lodge in Moncton on Sunday the 11th of October from 1 to 4pm. Crumb, Ardyth Joyce – 84 , Berwick, Kings Co., passed away in the Grand View Manor, Berwick, on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Born in Weston, Kings Co., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Adelia (Palmer) Saunders. After graduating from Berwick and Lawrencetown High Schools, she moved to Saint John New Brunswick where she trained as a Registered Nurse at the Saint John General Hospital. She worked in the operating room there for several years before leaving to raise her two daughters. Ardyth was employed as the Operating Room Supervisor at Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick for 20 years before her retirement. She earned the friendship and respect of many physicians, leagues and patients over those years. Ardyth was a very kind and caring person and enjoyed helping others. She delivered Meals–on–wheels, gifts to shut ins, and helped others in her community of Weston over the years. She was a member of the Berwick United Church, and was a life time member of the Weston Women’s Institute. Ardyth loved her family above all; she especially enjoyed time spent with her great grandchildren. Her gentle spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Debby (Alden) Huntley, Berwick; Nancy (Steven) Baxter, Middleton; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Brydon, Darcy (Charity) Huntley, Tatiana Baxter, Adam Baxter; great grandchildren, Raeghan, Andy and Kaitlyn Brydon, Kaileb Salsman, Hannah Huntley; sisters, Barbara Fuller, Hortonville; MaryAnne Carty, Berwick; brother, Reginald (Ellen) Saunders, Centerville. SMITH, Stanley H. – 78, of Hunts Point, Queens passed away peacefully on October 9, 2009. Born in Beech Hill, Queens County he was the son of Clifford & Myra Smith. He worked for Bowater Mersey for 25 years until he entered the service industry owning and operating “World Best Clams” in Hunts Point. Holding position as Chairman of Port Mouton area School Board, Queens County Regional School Board, he then decided to run for public office holding the position of Councilor and then Warden for a total of 27 years. He was very proud of the time he spent with the Municipality and cherished the many friends he and Thelma made over the years. In this time he built S & T Chalets in Hunts Point which he enjoyed being the landlord of 9 rental units. Always close by to help anyone who needed a hand whether it was physical labour or just a quick chat over a cup of coffee and a game of cribbage. A member of the Hunts Point United Church and an elder of the Port Mouton Pastoral Charge and supported numerous committees and local events. He had a passion for his woodland and the outdoors as he would frequently “take a drive back the camp road” looking for a partridge. For those who knew him well, his trucks always told a story as they were to use – not to look at. His greatest love in life was the respect and support from his family always boasting of their support. Survived by his wife, Thelma Joan (Dexter) N.Q. RUGGLES, Florence Audrey – 91, of Inglisville, Annapolis County, passed away peacefully in the North Hills Nursing Home in Granville Ferry Friday, October 9, 2009. Born in Inglisville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Adelaide (Best) Connell. She was a member of the Inglisville Baptist Church. Mom enjoyed doing embroidery work and her favourite hobby of knitting mittens and socks for the family grandchildren and great – grandchildren and also the children at the Lawrencetown School. Florence enjoyed going to the variety shows held in the Inglisville and Brickton Halls and always loved company dropping by. Higgins, Robert “Bob” Hugh - 81, of Kentville, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in 1928 in Higginsville, Halifax County, a son of the late Lawrence T. and Zella Blanche (McCabe) Higgins. From his early studies in a rural one room school house, Bob followed his passion to be an educator by attending the Nova Scotia Teachers College (Truro), Sir George Williams University (Montreal), and Acadia University (Wolfville). This educational background led to a lifelong career as a teacher and administrator – starting in Rockville (Yarmouth County) in 1949, Kentville in 1956, and then Berwick in 1979 until his retirement in 1986. Bob will be remembered by many for his role as Principal at Kings County Academy and at Berwick Schools. Bob’s gifts as an educator were most evident in his love for coaching and administrating amateur sports. As a long time badminton coach, he worked with kids to help them learn to love playing a sport for leisure and for competition with as much value placed on both. As a sports administrator, Bob served in varying capacities for over 3 decades with organizations such as Sports Nova Scotia (President), Badminton Nova Scotia (Director, President), Canadian Badminton Association (Director, Vice-President), and was a voting member of the Canadian Olympic Association. Bob dedicated much of his life to supporting and enriching the community around him. As a devoted member of the Kentville United Baptist Church, Bob served as a Deacon, Teller, Usher, Boy’s Work Board, Vision Committee, and was an Inter Church Council member, and was involved in counseling. Community involvement such as the Kentville Economic Development Committee, Kentville Parks & Recreation Committee (Library & Green Areas), and the Kentville Youth Association, led to Bob receiving the 1996 Paul Harris Fellowship and in 2000 an award from Kentville for Outstanding Volunteer work. Bob was recognized with many local, provincial, and national awards for his volunteer service – including Volunteer of the Year from the Town of Kentville in 1994. Bob was also instrumental in the construction of the Kentville tennis courts, wading pool, and other green areas. On the corner of Main Street and Chester Avenue in Kentville, there is a Rock dedicated to his years of service to the town of Kentville. Aside from teaching and coaching, Bob was a skilled gardener, with his gardens appearing on a nationally televised gardening show. Bob’s early love for canoeing and camping were passed on to all around him and encouraged him to be a supporter of the National Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. As a long time camp director at YMCA Wapomeo (Yarmouth) Bob was able to hone his nature based camp-fire stories to help inspire youth to be more aware of the natural world around them. Bob’s love of reading, photography, and playing tennis and badminton filled any spare time that Bob was able to find. In his later years, Bob and Marcia enjoyed many trips far and abroad. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Marcia Ricketson; a daughter, Debra (Gordon) Poley, Greenwood; three sons, Kevin (Lorraine), Centreville; Dr. Darren (John Bailey), Toronto; J. Paul (Meredith Legge), Duncans Cove; four granddaughters, Rebecca (Mitch) Moore, Robin, Raquel and Rose Poley; four step-grandchildren, Kris (Adam) Legge, Joel (Kristi) Garby, Ruel and Bret Garby; three nephews, Raymond, Larry, and Philip Higgins. He was predeceased by a brother, Glen and two siblings in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiating. Frank, George N. – 81, of Wolfville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of William and Gladys (Burgher) Frank. George worked in the family clothing business for over 50 years and subsequently became a real estate agent. He was a devoted cub master for over 20 years and was awarded a certificate of Gilwell Akela Beads by the Canadian General Council of the Boy Scouts Association. He was life member and past master of St. George’s Lodge #20, AF&AM, G.L.N.S., where he was a member for about 60 years. In recognition of his dedication to church, community service and Freemasonry, where he willingly took an active part and obligated himself to the ideals of any organization that he joined, George was recently honoured with the Meritorious Service Medal by St. George’s Lodge. He attended school in Wolfville and graduated in Business from Horton Academy of Acadia University. George was married for 59 years to Hilma (Power) and they have two sons and one daughter, Peter (Jadwiga), Bruce (Eleanor) and Cynthia Caldwell (Paul); seven grandchildren, Amy, Sara, Paul, Nicholas, Anna, Stefan and Catherine and two great-grandsons, Spencer and Morgan. He was predeceased by his father and mother and by his brother, Maurice. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Rondhuis, Martha Ida, age 81, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on April 1, 1928, in Holland, she was a daughter of the late Pieter and Johanna (Schwartz) Vrieling. Martha had been employed with the Nova Scotia Textiles for 19 years before retiring. She lived in Scotch Village for most of her life until moving to Windsor. Martha loved to knit mittens and has knit hundreds of pairs over the years for all her grandchildren and family friends. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from her window. She was always quick with a sarcastic remark to make others laugh, and enjoyed her weekly trips for groceries and Sunday visits from her family and friends. Martha is survived by her daughters, Janny (John Ferguson) Rondhuis, Montague Gold Mines; Johanna (Richard) Forrest, Saint John, New Brunswick; Maria (Mike Parker) Rondhuis, MacKay Section; sons, Pieter (Laura), Ottawa, Ontario; Willie (Libby), Union Corner; grandchildren, Marsha, Bryan, Steven, Jessica, Matthew, Nick, Melyssa, Lindsey, Cody, and Jacoba; six great-grandchildren; three brothers in Holland. BAKER, Bruce Lee – 70, MacNeil Avenue, Yarmouth, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 8, 1939 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Donald and Elizabeth “Betty” (Robicheau) Baker. Bruce is survived by a son, Jessie Baker, and a daughter, Amber Baker, both of Yarmouth, as well as by brothers and sisters, Clarke (Patricia) Baker, South Ohio; Donald (Anna) Baker, Arcadia; Diane Baker, Yarmouth; Brian (Paul) Baker, British Columbia, and a special niece, of whom he thought the world, Angela Baker. FRAIL, Russell Glenwood — 67, of North Brookfield, passed away quietly at home on October 9th, 2009, following a brief but stoic battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the family he cherished. Born in Westfield, he was the son of the late Mark and Marguerite Frail. After 27 years with the Department of Transportation, Russell retired in 1994 but remained very active. He enjoyed a wide circle of friends, the great outdoors, and spent many hours fishing, hunting, gardening, and ATVing or snowmobiling. Russell enjoyed nothing more than spending the afternoon picking blueberries or on the cranberry bog. Russell’s natural talent for music played a big part in his life. His guitar and piano gave him and those around him hours of pleasure. He took great pride introducing his zest for nature to his grandchildren. Russell was a “jack-of-all-trades”. He would tackle any project, big or small, and would conquer it in his own way. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine (Wamboldt); daughters: Janet (Donald) Himmelman, Tanya Frail, Shauna (Neil) Veldhoven; and son, Derek (Debbie) Frail; grandchildren, Breah, Garrett, Alyssa and Emily; sister Freda (Carleton) Selig, and brother Floyde (Linda) Frail; countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Mark Junior, Charles, and Rodney. A devout family man he will leave a void in the hearts of all whose lives he touched. LEWIS, Ralph Neil – 55, Lively, Ontario, formerly of Moshers Corner, Annapolis County, passed away on October 10, 2009 in St. Josephs Hospital, Sudbury. Born in Middleton on March 12, 1954, he was the son of the late Claude and Aleta (Edgett) Lewis. Ralph was employed at the nickel mines in Sudbury, Ontario. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, He is survived by sons, Joseph (Brooke) of Timmins, Ontario; Paul of Guelph, Ontario; daughter, Jennifer of Iron Bridge, Ontario; two grandchildren; brother, Donald (Linda) Lewis of Whitefish, Ontario; sisters, Jean (Robert) Doherty of Lawrencetown; Laura (Orville) Arnold of Burlington; Leona (David) Lewis of Moshers Corner and many nieces and nephews. Sanford, Budd Randolph, 58, North Alton, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick he was a son of the late Cecil and Esther (Porter) Sanford. Budd worked for Co-op Atlantic for 29 years in various positions until he retired in 1999. He then started Sanford Custom Software doing contract work for Co-op Atlantic and other companies until his health would not allow. Budd was a loving husband, father and friend. He loved to laugh and enjoyed life. He loved his family and the Lord very much. Budd devoted most of his life to the service of the church serving as Deacon at North Alton Baptist Church and past Deacon at Burlington Baptist Church. Budd enjoyed working with youth and was an AWANA Commander for 22 years. He was also a youth leader and Sunday school teacher for many years at both churches. Budd is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sons, Curtis (Terra), Eastern Passage; Alexander, North Alton; daughters, Cecelia and Bonita, both of North Alton; brothers, Manson (Alice), Moncton, N.B.; Emerson (Cheryl), Canmore, Alta.; Donald (Marie), Somerset; Duane (Chris), Elgin, N.B.; Ervin (Karen), Black Rock; sisters, Barbara (Boyd) Meisner, Black Rock; Olivia (Jack) Young, Aylesford; Carole (David) Rinzler, Riverview, N.B.; Verna (Richard) Ward, Coldbrook and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Beverly Foster.
