The second annual “Straw Hat, Antique Tractor and Machinery Display” was held in Kingsport Saturday, July 4 at the home of Frank and Marion Woolaver and the turn-out was great.
The day began with the tractor run (parade featured 1940-59 mostly David Brown vintage tractors) that headed from the farm to the Look-Off where spectators enjoyed not only the magnificent view of the Valley, but also the dazzling display of 17 brightly coloured tractors. A few joined in on the way.
Then it was off to the Woolaver farm on Longspell Rd. for a day of fun, food, displays and entertainment. Displays included antique machinery with 42 tractors. The Ding-a-ling Quilters Club supplied the cold plate lunch with strawberry shortcake and there was musical entertainment by the Kingsport Jammers and Friends. Proceeds went to the Kingsport United Church Vestry.
“It rained about 3 p.m.,” Frank said “Other than that, it was really good. And I’m already getting calls for next year and that’s a ways off. Please add a special thanks to all volunteers from Frank and Marion.”
Jam Session: Come out to Kingsport for a musical evening with the Kingsport Jammers at the United Church Vestry Thursday evenings from 7-10 p.m. Freewill offering. Bring your singing voice or musical instrument or just come out to listen. Everyone welcome.
