Wolfville firefighters called in mutual aid yesterday from several local departments as they battled a fire in a large two-storey home on the Greenfield Road in Forest Hill.
Wolfville Fire Chief Tim MacLeod said his department was called to the scene of the structure fire at about 10:56 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jan. 7. Heavy smoke was visible when they arrived at the scene.
“We did some interior attack, but the fire was quite advanced when we arrived,” he said. “The fire was too advanced to be too aggressive so we took a defensive position and attacked from the outside.”
The house incurred extensive damage in the blaze and was essentially gutted. There were no injuries and the home was insured.
MacLeod said there was nobody home at the time of the fire, which was discovered and called in by a neighbour.
MacLeod said Thursday morning that the cause of the fire was still under investigation by the provincial Fire Marshal’s Office and his department.
Greenwich, Port Williams, Hantsport, New Minas, Canning, Windsor and Kentville fire departments responded in mutual aid.
