Wind and storm surge warning issued
Wind gusts up to 100 km/h expected
Environment Canada has issued a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected in the region today.

Strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 100 kilometres and hour were to develop over western Nova Scotia this morning and near noon elsewhere. Winds will begin to diminish this afternoon.

Additionally higher than normal water levels were also expected at high tide along the Atlantic coast this morning and the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence this afternoon and evening. Large waves and pounding surf will accompany the high water levels in the tri-county area this morning and western Cape Breton early this evening. Western facing coastlines will likely experience beach erosion and possible infrastructure damage.
