More sensitivity needed

In the Sports section of the Dec. 11 issue of The Hants Journal, you published a photograph entitled the “Happy Hunter.”

Speaking for myself, I was not so happy while driving Dec. 3. It was right behind the hunter’s pickup truck. I was looking right at the big eyes and slit throat of this beautiful buck deer. I was not able to get off the road for a while and had to keep my eyes on the road and the vehicle in front of me. The sight was extremely unnerving for me, and I was only glad that I was alone in the car at that time.

Why do some hunters feel that they have the right to impose this obscene sight on others? Or is it just an oversight on their part? I cannot think it would be too much for the provincial department that regulates hunting to include mandatory rules for hunters not to display to the general public their “trophy.” It would be much more seemly to keep these very unfortunate sights to the hunting clubs and the butchers.

So to all hunters, may I ask you all to please be more considerate of the feelings of other people, and next time use covers. This is not too much to ask for, but it means a great deal to me, and I am sure to others.
