Bogus canvasser charged in Wolfville
Police have charged a an alleged bogus canvasser in Wolfville.

RCMP in Wolfville have charged a 47-year-old woman with 10 counts of fraud after receiving complaints from the public Sept. 25 of a woman canvassing residents in Wolfville to donate money to a "Super Walk," which she said was to raise funds for the Maritime chapter of the Parkinson's Society.

Wolfville RCMP announced the charges Dec. 12.

Police allege that she altered cheques payable to herself and pocketed cash for a fundraiser that had already occurred.

The woman was never associated with the Parkinson's Society.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court Jan. 19, 2009, for plea.
