Cool stuff!

Students at New Minas Elementary were big winners Wednesday when Sportchek in New Minas donated over $6,000 worth of equipment and cash to the school. Store General Manager Tim Ryan, with staff members Marcey States, Luke McCarthy and Pam Irving, were on hand to present 180 balls, 20 balance disks, 12 trampolines and a cheque for $1,000 to Principal Eric Trahan, students and staff. Ryan said his team participated in a fundraiser among Sportchek stores and they are currently first in Atlantic Canada and third in the nation with just under $10,000 raised. The effort gave them the opportunity to pick a local charity and they selected New Minas Elementary. Trahan expressed his appreciation and said afterward, “this goes a long way toward promoting our healthy schools initiative and it nurtures great community relationships in the Village of New Minas.”
