Bouwhuis-Corporon, Gerard Eduard (Eddy) Utrecht 14 June, 1946 – Zwolle, 18 November, 2008, Meppel, Holland, Netherlands. Eddy Bouwhuis. Who does not know him? If you did not know him in person, you surely knew his name. A lot of years he drove through Meppel in one of his cars giving driving lessons. Which he enjoyed very much. At the same time a lot of numbers and figures passed in review because of his job as financial manager at “Troost” and later when he became self-employed. His striking ‘length’ made sure he was noticed. A roguish little guy, but a grand man. Grand in his sincerity and honesty. Grand in his sense of responsibility. But above all grand in his love for his wife, daughters and grandchildren. And what about family! Families is more accurate, because he was given a generous share. Many knew that next to his warm family in Holland, he also had a warm home in Canada since 1984. Family ties that are difficult to explain, but so very easy to feel and experience by someone with such a big heart. How could it be that that big heart would turn out to be fatal. Because Wednesday, November 12th, he was struck by a heavy heart attack. An unerring intuition brought him ‘on time’ to the hospital in Zwolle. Full of confidence, he took on the fight. Clear, positive and with a lust for life. He passed on his strength to his family and the team of doctors and nurses. What a great atmosphere! Laughing, crying, amazing conversations, soccer-talk, live guitars, singing, children’s voices: and all of that at the CCU (Cardiac Care Unit). In Eddy’s last days his personality became magnified: a loving partner during 40 years, a proud father, a sweet grandpa, a brother for real, a good friend, a loyal colleague. How grateful he was for 62 years living a beautiful life. Tuesday, November 18th Eddy said: “All is well.” How you are missed, but so grateful for life with you. Annemie, Helen, Colinda Canadian family (sisters and brothers): Ruth (Cornelius) Muise, Dayton; Janice (Neil) Bourque and John (Pat) Corporon, both of Sluice Point; Marlene (Ronnie) White, Canaan; Patsy (Keenen) Woo, Arcadia; Milton (Judy) Corporon, Port Maitland; Angela (Peter) Collier, Sandford; Darrell (Nora) Corporon, Meteghan; Denise (Gary) Surette, Overton; Julie Corporon, King Street; Mark (Sheila) Corporon, Brooklyn; Father Edmund Corporon (deceased); step-mother Vivian (King Street).
