Acadia top-three with Maclean’s

Maclean’s Magazine has again ranked Acadia University one of the top three undergraduate universities in Canada.

The Wolfville university placed third, after Mt. Allison in New Brunswick and the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George. St. Francis Xavier University came fourth.

As of 2007, Maclean’s has a new measurement system that relies entirely on publicly-available institutional data. Based on that system, Acadia slipped to fifth in the reputation category.

The university’s acting president, Tom Herman, told alumni recently, “we have recently undertaken a specific effort to raise our profile with high school teachers, and I am hopeful that this will lead to an improved overall result during next year’s survey.”

He also said, according to the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Acadia students are satisfied with their educational experience.

Acadia has been among the Maclean’s top-three for more than 15 years and is the top-ranked undergraduate institution in Nova Scotia.
