The RCMP Bisons, a hockey team made up of former European, pro league, QMJHL and university players, will take on the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners to raise money for the Adopt-A-Library WOW Reading challenge.
The WOW Reading Challenge Charity Fundraiser Hockey Game will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Yarmouth Mariners Centre. All proceeds will go to the Adopt-A-Library WOW Reading Challenge, a partnership between the RCMP, Western Counties Regional Library and Yarmouth elementary schools to promote literacy by encouraging children to read.
“There will be lots of giveaways, lots of fun and lots of entertainment,” says RCMP Const. John Kennedy.
The Yarmouth Mariners have been big supporters of the reading initiative by visiting the schools and reading to the students, says Debbie Little of the library. Now they are taking to the ice with the RCMP to provide some entertainment while raising money for the program.
Tickets are available at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library, 405 Main St., and Mariners Centre box office or canteen, 31 Cottage St. For information call 902-742-5040 or check the events calendar online at
