November 2 to November 8, 2008 Carver, Maurice (Buddy) - 79 of Liverpool, Queens County passed away peacefully Monday, November 3, 2008 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Milton, he was the son of the late Henry and Maria (Townsend) Carver. He is survived by common-law wife Bonnie Whynot, Liverpool; sons Shawn (Janet) Carver, Milton, Donald ((Billie Joe), Bridgewater, Chris (Sami), Liverpool; granddaughters Keisha Carver, Milton, Taylor Whynot, Liverpool, Tara Whynot, Bridgewater, Chloe Whynot, Liverpool; step-grandchildren: Brett, Shelby Silver, Bridgewater; sisters: Beatrice (Gerald) Gallant, Milton, Kaye Delong, Bridgewater; brother Douglas (Mary) Carver, Hammonds Plains and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters: Dorothy (Dolly), Edith (Rosetta), Annie; brothers: James (Jim), Benjamin, Henry and Samuel; half-sisters Hilda (Reit), Josephine and Minnie. There will be no funeral services as the body was donated to Dalhousie University. Donations may be made to the Dalhousie University Department of Anatomy Neurobiology or Queens General Hospital.
November 2 to November 8, 2008 Angus Cecil Hawkesworth – 60, formerly of Wolfville, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, his home for the past several years. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Cecil and Margaret (MacFadyen) Hawkesworth. He had been employed as a storeroom manager and receiver at Wheelock Dining Hall at Acadia University. He was a member and former caretaker of the Wolfville Curling Club and a member and former president of the Apple Valley Riders Bike Club. He had also been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C. B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Wolfville where he enjoyed playing darts. Angus loved fishing, cooking, eating and spending summers at the family farm in Scarsdale. He enjoyed his many friends and always kept a positive outlook on life. He is survived by a brother, Glenn (Julie) Hawkesworth, Wolfville; two nephews, Luke and Kyle; many cousins; several aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008, Reverend Robert Billings officiated. November 2 to November 8, 2008 WALSH, Rhoda Kathleen (Harvey)—93, Windsor, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Brooklyn November 12, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Laura (Lockhart) Harvey. In her younger years, Rhoda enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. It meant a great deal to her to share these talents with family and friends. She was a long time member of the Brooklyn United Church, as well as a member of the United Church Womens Group. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her kind and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew her. Rhoda is survived by daughter Dorothy (Gordon “Chick”) Martin, Brooklyn; sons William “Bill” John (Brenda Collicutt), Brooklyn; Robert Eugene Harvey, Crafton, BC; grandchildren William “Billy”, Dartmouth; Ronald Harvey, Surrey, BC; Adena Pritchard, Porters Lake; Suzanne Hebert, Guelph, Ontario; Tina Grady, Roswell, USA; five great grandchildren, sisters Dorothy Tracey, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor; Camilla Munroe, Halifax; sisters-in-law Florence Harvey, New Minas; Ida Harvey, Halifax; as well as several nieces and nephews. November 2 to November 8, 2008 Mabel Beatrice Veinot – 96, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 2, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Edith (McDow) Rafuse. Mabel was a former member of the Coldbrook Woman’s Institute and was an avid quilter, having won many prizes for her handiwork. She enjoyed camping, meeting people and was always ready for a game of cards. For many years, she and her late husband owned and operated many small businesses in the Coldbrook area. She is survived by two sisters, Vivian (Owen) Irving, Bridgetown; Jean (Arnold) Salsman, Kentville; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill”; four brothers, Morris, Leo, Ralph and Clifford; two sisters, Evelyn Veinot and Mildred Blair. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiated. November 2 to November 8, 2008 MURPHY, Victoria Genevive, Sandy Point, passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the age of 80. She was a daughter of the late Maurice and Myrtle (Hemeon) Oickle. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; daughter, Judy Sears; sisters, Pauline Jeffrey, Hilda Robinson, Marie Mathieson, Kay Swaine and Margaret Perry; brothers, Laurie Pierce and Lester Oickle. She is survived by her sister, Frances Acker, Shelburne; was a loving mother to daughter Sandra (Allan) Burke, Sandy Point; sons, Thomas (Helen) , Lower Sackville; Patrick (Becky), Bridgewater; Michael (Candy), Carleton Village. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. November 2 to November 8, 2008 Leitha Elsie Jones – 92, formerly of South Alton, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 3, 2008 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Fraxville, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late George and Agnes (Keddy) Turner. During her earlier life, she was employed with Edgehill School for Girls, Windsor and later with A.S. Barkhouse General Store, New Ross. Following her marriage, she resided in South Alton until 2006. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Leitha had a love of sewing and tending to her flower gardens and was fond of shopping and dining out. She enjoyed taking long walks on the Wolfville Dykes, one day having walked in excess of 3 kilometres when she was 82. She also loved spending time in the Miramichi area and listening to the “Miramichi Whisper”. She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Jones, South Alton; a sister, Kathleen Hiltz, Rothesay, New Brunswick; two sisters-in-law, Lois Turner, The Forties and Gladys Turner, Berwick; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George William Jones; a sister, Elizabeth Hiltz; six brothers, Wallace, Walter, Lester, Grant, Byard and Norwood. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation, by family request. November 2 to November 8, 2008 fage, Lillian Marie - age 81, of Brookdale passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2008 at home with her loving family by her side. Born in Surrettes Island, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Guillaume Henri "WiIlie" and Marie Emilienne "Millie" (Surrette) Babin. She was a homemaker a 4-H leader and an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the gift shop, Telephone Pioneers and made heart and stroke cushions. Lillian was employed as a bookkeeper along with her husband in Sackville, NB for A.A. Fage TV and Radio Repair. She was also employed with Aerovox Transformer Manufacture and later with Northern Telecom for 17 years until her retirement. Lillian then was able to follow her passion for quilting, making quilts for her family and as each grandchild went off to college, a quilt went with them. She belonged to her quilt group, "Come For Fun" and went bowling every week with her daughter Alda. Lillian enjoyed gardening, flowers and fed many different species of birds all winter long. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving husband Allen Avard (Red), her precious children, Valerie Chappell (Doug DesBarres) of Minudie, N.S., Alda (Ivan) Fromm and Norma (Bob) Milner both of Hastings; son, Lloyd (Florance Beaton) of Mill Cove, N.S.; a loving sister, Pauline LeBlanc of Meteghan, NS, her sister in law Doris Webber of Amherst, special granddaughter Kristi of Mill Cove along with nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. She was predeceased by her two sons, Bruce Allen James (2008) and Randall William (1966), brothers Henri, Germain, twin brothers Lionel and Leonard as well as her sisters Annette, Eileen and Germaine. She rested at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) where visiting was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral service was celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, Deacon Howard Gotell officiated. November 2 to November 8, 2008 SMITH, David F. - 71, Halifax, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. He was the second son of the late Frank and Ivena (Weir) Smith. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul, in infancy. Raised on the family farm in Stanley, Hants Co. David attended the local community school and then travelled by train to Windsor to complete high school. For a number of years he worked for the Royal Bank, employed in Windsor, Halifax, Baddeck and Sydney. Returning to Halifax he was employed by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Bedford and Irving Construction, Halifax. In the mid seventies David owned and managed Hobby World, Mic Mac Mall, Dartmouth. Retiring in 1994 he was then free to indulge himself in his life long passion remote control model airplanes. A member of the Halifax Radio Control Club as well as associate clubs through out the province he spent countless hours at the Beaver Bank Flying Field, building planes at home, reading associated publications, researching on his computer, taking photos and checking the weather in the hope that it would be a great day to go out to the field. David built his last plane in the fall of 2007, which unfortunately he did not have the chance to fly. He was also a baseball and hockey fan having played both in his youth, a love of reading and music provided hours of relaxation. Those who knew him best will always remember his love of strawberry shortcake and apple pie. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Theresa (Tess Cuthbertson) Smith, mother-in-law, Mary W. (Batherson) MacDonald, Halifax; sisters, Betty (Jim) Mumford, Stanley, Hants Co. and their daughters, Natalie (Alex Stevenson) and son Gavin, Dartmouth; Jennifer (Clinton) MacPhee and daughter, Jillian, Upper Rawdon; Judith Dixon and her sons, Keith, Kenny, Benjamin and their families, Ontario; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Barry) White and their sons, Jamie (Marzena) and their children, Emily, Nathan and Joshua, Ottawa; Christopher (Crystal), Dartmouth; many special cousins, friends and neighbors, especially Yvon and Kay (Brown) Au Coin. Born in Spa Springs, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby Stronach. She received her R.N. from the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Chase; three sons, Bruce (Karen, step-son, Benjamin), Hubley, NS; Brian, Vancouver, BC; Douglas (Robyn), Alma, ON; two granddaughters, Hayley and Ella Chase. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-mother, Ruperta Charleton Stronach. November 2 to November 8, 2008 Ardena Fay Balsor – 49, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on May 16, 1959 in Kentville, she was a daughter of Lola Ardena (Marshall) DeMont, Coldbrook and the late Milford Schofield. She graduated from Central Kings Rural High School in 1977 and from the Banking and Finance program at the former Kings Regional Vocational School in 1978. In that same year she began working in the Bank of Montreal, Kentville Branch and worked there for 30 years until her illness prevented her from doing so. Ardena was community minded, having volunteered or canvassed for numerous charities, including the Red Cross Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Gary; two daughters, Darcee Balsor (Rob Jenkins), North Alton; Mallory Balsor, Cambridge; a sister, Ferne Williams (Pat Dwyer), St. John’s, NL; three brothers, Gary (Anne) DeMont, Amherst; James “Jim” (Marianne) Schofield, Coldbrook; John Schofield, Coldbrook; several nieces and nephews; her colleagues at the Bank of Montreal, Kentville Branch (all of whom she considered family); her dear walking companion, Lily. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Jennie and Dixon Marshall and her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Laura (Rafuse) Schofield. November 2 to November 8, 2008 POOLE, Edith Gladys - 103, Windsor, passed away peacefully in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Jane (Cochrane) Poole. In her early years she attended Edgehill School for Girls. Edith was known for her great sense of humour and enjoyed a vibrant social life. She had a love for crossword and cryptic puzzles as well as music. She worked for Nova Scotia Light and Power for 35 years, serving in both Windsor and Halifax. She was an active member of the Windsor Gliders Club and Windsor Historical Society. Edith is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by nieces, Jean Carroll, Halifax; Ruth Spurr, Ontario; Bette Myles, Windsor, and Toronto, Ont.; Dorothy Pike, Boston, U.S.A., and Shirley Williston, Wolfville and Dartmouth. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by sisters, Bertha, Ethel, Mabel, and Marjorie; brothers, John and Frank, as well as niece, Betsy Ross Curtis. November 2 to November 8, 2008 LONGLEY, John Robert - 68, of North Kingston passed away at home, Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late John S. and Nora (Woodbury) Longley. John grew up on the family farm “Longleyhill Farm” in North Kingston. Following graduation from the Nova Scotia Agriculture College, he returned to the family farm going into partnership with his father. John was very active in the community, as a member of the Kingston Board of Trade; North Kingston Public Cemetery; North Kingston Community Center; Kingston Co-op; Kingston Lions Club; Kingston and District Fire Commission; Order of Good Cheer and the Kingston United Baptist Church. He was past president of the Lake George Property Owners Society and the Paragon Golf and Country Club. John served as Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and Manager of the Annapolis Valley Exhibition; the Board of Directors of the Exhibition Association of Nova Scotia Fairs (E.A.N.S); the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions (C.A.F.E.) as well as serving on the Valley Health Board and the Kings County Animal Health Board. He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Mader; daughter, Elizabeth (Ward) Blatch, Halifax; sons, Andrew (Rose Marie), Niagara Falls; David (Mary Jane), Halifax; sister, Carolyn (Carman) Townsend, North Kingston; brother, William (Mary), Kansas; grandchildren, Kathleen and Aidan Longley; Evan and Amber Longley and Amelia and Hallie Blatch. Born in Black River, Kings County, he was a son of the late Thomas Charles and Bessie (Atwell) Stewart. He had been employed with the former Nova Scotia Light and Power, from where he retired after 42 years of service. He had been a Past Master of Rothesay Masonic Lodge No. 41, Bridgetown, a member of the Ham Radio Operators Association (VE1SC) and a member of the West Nova Scotia Rifle Association. Graeme was a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and was recognized in 1979 by the Atmospheric Environment Service for 28 years as an outstanding weather observer. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, the former Esther Leopold; two sons, Alan, Toronto and Robert (Tonji), Holyrood, Newfoundland and a large circle of family and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by an infant son; a sister, Shirley Hughes, four brothers, Albert, Edward, Elwin and Donald. Visitation was held from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. November 2 to November 8, 2008 WHITE, Rodney Bruce "Ronnie" - 61, passed away November 4, 2008 at home. Born in Yarmouth he was a son of Jean (Nickerson) White and the late Charles White Sr. He was a fisherman most of his working life and also worked as a cook in Banff, Alta. He enjoyed volunteering at Vets Place and Tidal View Manor. He was also an avid crib player and loved animals, especially his dog Chrissy. He is survived by his mother; his brother, Charles (Connie), Overton, Yarmouth Co.; sister, Diane Barry Hebron, Yarmouth Co.; several nieces and nephews; former wife, Silvana Redden, Musquodoboit, Halifax Co.; four stepdaughters; eight stepgrandchildren, and his special friend, Susan Killam. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Phyllis White. There was no visitation or funeral. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA Yarmouth. November 2 to November 8, 2008 James “Stewart” Spicer - 69, Harbourville, Kings Co., formerly of Berwick, Kings Co. passed away in his sleep on Monday November 3, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Maurice and Mabel Spicer (of Berwick). Stewart had spent three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a former associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch # 69, Berwick. He had worked at Berwick Bakery, Boylans Red & White Store and worked as a meat cutter at Larsens Packers Ltd., Berwick. Stewart was a veteran member of the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department, and had coached the Berwick Fire Department Hockey Team. He loved the Bay of Fundy and to be on the water. Stewart and Donna were happy to return to the Bay area to live in later years. He along with Keith Durno helped to build Greg Hamilton’s Seafood Lobster Pound. Stewart ran the lobster pound there prior to his illness. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and travel. Surviving are his wife, Donna (Dorey) Spicer, Harbourville; sons, Dale (Janice), Shane (Gail) and Troy (Heather) Spicer; grandchildren, Devon, Justine, Jessica, Briana & Jeremy, all of Berwick. He loved all his family and had a very close relationship with them. Also surviving are brothers, Gregg Spicer, Edmonton, Alberta; Allan (Hallie) Spicer, Iowa; Mark (Leslie) Spicer, Berwick; sister, Dale Morrow, Truro; brothers-in-law, Rod (Lois) Dorey; Terry (Stephanie) Hiltz, all of Berwick; Carman (Lydia) Alride, Ont.; Gary (Muriel) Zwicker, Chester; uncle, Barry (Margaret) Spicer, Welsford; many nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Joy Spicer-Alride. In accordance with Stewarts wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family hosted reception in his memory at the Michelin Social Club, Waterville, Friday November 7, from 1-3 p.m. Burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. November 2 to November 8, 2008 DANIELS, Kenneth Wallace - 78, Windsor Forks, Hants Co., passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Windsor Forks, he was a son of the late Wallace and Susie (Burns) Daniels. Kenneth attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, and owned and operated commercial greenhouses for many years. In 1970 he became a stationary engineering instructor at the Annapolis Vocational School, Middleton, where he taught for six years. He then joined the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, from where he retired in 1991 as Chief Inspector/Examiner for the Province. During his tenure with the Department, he participated in the Canada-wide standardization of Stationary Engineering certification. Kenneth was an active member of Windsor United Church. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Kenneth was a skilled craftsman with a real love for woodworking, and made several violins and a cello. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Leota M. Fraser; daughters, Linda Harris (Robert Bennett), Martock; Barbara Daniels-Lake (David Lake), Windsor Forks; Caroll (Michael O.) Chute, Brooklyn; son, Michael (Lana) Daniels, Slave Lake, Alta.; grandchildren, Julie Harris, Daniel and Vanessa Lake, Marc, Sean, and Regan Daniels; brother, Elliott (Jean) Daniels, Windsor Forks; sister, Elizabeth Miller, New Minas; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mina is survived by son Bruce Sherman (Beth Taylor), daughters Betty (Brian) Oickle, Judy Sherman, Joan Sherman, Wendy, Fern (Kenny), grandchildren Bryce, Leslie, Wayne, Mark, Steven, Elissa, Terry, and Ian, and three great grandchildren, brothers Ronald Hart, Windsor Forks; Donald Hart, Falmouth; Garnet Hart, Mount Uniacke; Winston Hart, New Minas; Kevin Hart, Bridgewater; sisters Selba Perkins, Kentville; Wilma Hebb, Windsor; as well as 16 nieces and nephews, and 23 great nieces and nephews. Born at Freeport, Digby County she was a daughter of the late Elvin and Tarasa (Lewis) Sabean. She was dearly loved by her family. Havavine is survived by daughters, Maleta Phillips, Lawrencetown, Annapolis County and Deanna Dimock; sons, Leroy and Garnet both of Kingston, Jackie, Weston, Kings County, Richard, London ON, James, Morristown, Duke Williams and Tex Williams. Sisters, Zaida Lilly, Paradise and Ruth Salsman, Aylesford. Five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Harry; daughter, Alice; sisters, Jean Seamone, Bernice Kennedy and Mary Alessi; brothers, Murwin Sabean and Elvin Sabean. Margaret’s family is very appreciative of the care she received at Kennedy’s Boarding Home, as well as the many acts of kindness received from Dr. Yafai and also the staff of the Kingston Valley Drug Mart. November 2 to November 8, 2008 Medford Eugene “Med” Dearman – 84, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.  Born in Clarksville, Hants County, he was a son of the late Wilbert “Burpee” and Jessie (Brown) Dearman. He had been employed as a truck driver with Irving Oil for many years. He enjoyed hobby farming and had a love for horses. He also enjoyed music, especially Bluegrass. He was the last surviving family member of his generation. He is survived by his partner, Bertha Turner; three daughters, Wendy Lynn Fitzgerald (Clayton Sanford), Cambridge; Beverly (Bruce) Redden, South Alton; Cheryl (David) Bond, Fort St. John, BC; three sons, Gary, Kentville; Garth (Kim Patterson), Tupper Lake; Bruce, Kentville; son-in-law, Keith Lloyd, North Alton; 14 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Brad, Jeri, Kyle, Chauncey, Trent, Mitchell, Megan, Niki, Tristan, Tyler, Hope, and Faith; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was especially fond of his cat, Boots. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice; a daughter, Connie Lloyd; seven sisters, Margaret, Violet, Octavia, Reta, Jessie, Mary and Olive; three brothers, John, Wilbert and Leo. November 2 to November 8, 2008 Susan Frances Coll - 92, of Coldbrook, Kings Co. passed away peacefully at home on November 7th 2008. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Archibald S. & Edith (Mills) MacDonald. Sue graduated from Sydney Academy in 1932 at the age of 16. During the Second World War she worked in the general office for Sydney Steel and later was the catalogue sales manager for Eaton’s in Sydney and then in Dartmouth. Sue was a member and elder of Sydney River United Protestant Church. She enjoyed traveling, golf & bridge with her friends. She is survived by her daughter: Shirley (Wayne) MacDonald, Coldbrook (with whom she lived); son, Ron (Karen) Coll, Unionville, Ont.; 5 grandchildren: Mark (Mi-heon) MacDonald, Dartmouth; Jan (Robert) Houseman, Elmsdale; Keri (Trevor) Best, Porters Lake, Graham & Andrew Coll both of Ontario; as well as 6 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Irwin; brothers: Maxwell, George & Frank and step-mother Jeanne MacDonald (Howatson). No visitation by family request. November 2 to November 8, 2008 OSBORNE, Mae Jessie - 87, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at home. Born in Molega, Queens County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cecilia (Jones) Whynott. Mae had lived in Ontario for over 40 years before moving back to North Queens three years ago. She was an active member of the Caledonia United Church and had many hobbies including swimming, fishing, going to the horse races, bingo, knitting, reading and playing scrabble. She is survived by daughter Margaret (Jim) Mellanby, of Camperdown; sons William “Bill” (Judi), of South Brookfield, Scott (Patricia “Trish”), of Caledonia; grandchildren Darren, Shane, Coby, Clay, Nathalie, Shawna; great grandchildren Hayden, Lauren, Lindsey, Jake, Ruby, Austin, Kristen, Cameron, Mia; sisters Verna Hanley, of Bridgewater, Georgina Oickle, of South Brookfield, Ruth Crouse, of South Brookfield; brother Fraser (Bea), of Markham, Ont. She was predeceased by her first husband, Laurence Wamboldt; second husband Wray Osborne; sisters Myrtle, Laura; brothers Gilbert, Lewis, Alvin, Irving, Clarence and Gladwin. A Celebration of Mae’s life was held Sunday, November 9, 2008, from the Caledonia United Church. Pastor Tom Watson officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Caledonia.
