Behind the Badge with the Hants RCMP
Between Sunday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, the members of Hants County RCMP were kept busy responding to a total of 104 calls.
Among these calls, three related to dangerous driving complaints; seven calls concerned traffic collisions; three calls regarded mischief to property valued at under $5,000; three reported thefts of property valued at under $5,000; two involved sudden deaths; four calls regarded firearms complaints; three concerned impaired driving complaints; two involved complaints of drivers failing to remain at the scene; and five related to the Family Relations Act.
In addition to those complaints, members attended three false 911 calls and found that, as in many such instances, the calls were made by citizens trying to contact directory assistance. There were also 16 false calls related to residences or businesses.
Hants County RCMP are also investigating a number of notable offences, and anyone with information on the person or persons responsible are asked to contact Windsor RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
Between 2 and 2:30 p.m., Oct. 9, a 2005 Toyota Echo parked outside the Atlantic Superstore in Windsor received damage to the front bumper of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle had left scene.
Sometime between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21, 2008, a blue mountain bike was stolen from outside a residence on Stark Road, Newport Station.
Sometime between Oct. 18 and 19, during the late evening
hours or early morning hours, a person or persons unknown damaged property on the grounds of Dr. Arthur Hines Elementary School in Summerville.
Sometime between Saturday, Oct. 25, and the morning of Sunday, Oct. 26, a person or persons unknown dragged a green garbage bin down the Old Mines Road and Rockwell Drive, Mount Uniacke, dumping garbage all over the road.
Sunday, Oct. 26, at approximately 6:15 p.m. on the Beaverpond Road, Centreville, RCMP members and the Summerville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire that was set by an unknown white male described
as being 20 to 30 years old and wearing dark clothes.

Between Sunday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 26,2008, Windsor Town RCMP had a brisk week, responding to 31 calls.
Among the calls received, two calls were in response to theft under $5,000; two regarded common assault complaints; and one concerned with a disturbing the peace complaint. Other incidents ranged from suspicious persons,
uttering threats, mischief to property valued at under $5,000, three moving traffic complaints, one Controlled Drugs Substances Act (CDSA) complaint, two calls regarding impaired driving, two calls under the Family Relations Act, and a call under the Mental Health Act.
Windsor Town RCMP are also investigating a number of noted offences, and anyone with information on the person or persons responsible are asked to contact the Windsor RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Friday, Oct. 24, a person or persons unknown stole laptops and money from the premises of Kings Edgehill School.
Sometime between Saturday, Oct. 25, and Sunday, Oct. 26, a person or persons unknown threw a piece of concrete through the plate glass front door of the Hants Aquatic Centre on Stannus Street, Windsor.
