The Annapolis Field Naturalists Society (AFNS) will celebrate its 20th anniversary the weekend of November 8 and 9 with two landmark events.
On Saturday, Nov. 8, AFNS will sponsor a three-course Italian buffet prepared by Chef Chris Patemen at the Granville Ferry Community Hall in Granville Ferry. The evening includes a cash bar and will begin at 5:30 with a social time; followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $25 per person. Proceeds will go to support the organization's youth and outreach programs.
On Sunday, Nov. 9, AFNS members and friends will hold an afternoon tea at the Hillsdale House Inn on St. George St. in Annapolis Royal, from 2 to 4 p.m. The gathering will include desserts, camaraderie, and lots of colourful stories around the fireplace.
To make reservations for either event please contact Jon Percy at 532-5129, or email AFNS at info@natureannapolis.ca.
AFNS was launched in 1988 by a small group of local field naturalists with extensive knowledge about the region's natural history. The first meeting drew 75 people and within a few months, members held eight excursions ranging from orchid walks to whale watching. Each year since that time, AFNS has sponsored a fall and spring lecture series, monthly field outings, conferences and workshops. To find out more about the organization please visit its Web site at
