Annapolis RCMP kept busy with 82 calls

RCMP responded to a total of 82 calls in the Annapolis County region during the week of October 20 to 27. Among these were 8 false alarms, 7 false 911s, 5 motor vehicle accidents, and no domestic incidents.

Not listed below are the numerous reports of shots fired or ‘deer jacking’, a common occurrence as the opening of hunting approaches. The response to these calls is handled by either the RCMP, the Department of Natural Resources, or both.

(Note: Due to the sensitive nature of complaints involving sexual assault, domestic violence, children’s welfare, and mental health, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication.)

Of the 82 calls, the following is a summary of those deemed fit for publication:

- Oct. 20 at 1:55 p.m. Bridgetown. A business called to complain of damage to their property in the form of a broken window.

- Oct. 20 at 4:37 p.m. Bridgetown. Police investigated a response of youths on the roof of a business with their bicycles.

- Oct. 21 at 9:37 a.m. Bridgetown. A resident called to complain of receiving threats. The parties involved were known to each other.

- Oct. 21 at 11:42 a.m. Middleton. A business operator lodged a complaint of building materials stolen from their place of business1.

- Oct. 21 at 12:38 p.m. Middleton. Police responded to a complaint of two males urinating in public. The youths were located and processed through the restorative justice program.

- Oct. 21 at 4:53 p.m. Centrelea. Members responded to a report of a dangerous driving. A driver was not respecting regulations regarding school buses.

- Oct. 22 at 11:16 a.m. Bridgetown. Police investigation found no criminal intent, and therefore resulted in the dismissal of a reported ‘gas and go’ from a gas station.

- Oct. 22 at 11:45 a.m. Wilmot. RCMP were called to the scene of a reported ‘theft under $5000’. Construction staging had been stolen from a business.

- Oct. 22 at 12:23 p.m. Bridgetown. Investigation is ongoing in relation to a reported assault. The parties involved were known to each other.

- Oct. 22 at 12:46 p.m. Nictaux. Members offered medical assistance in response to a report of a disoriented male.

- Oct. 22 at 1:20 p.m. Bridgetown East. Officers located a reported reckless driver. The matter remains under investigation.

- Oct. 22 at 3:51 p.m. Bear River. Police examined evidence of an attempted break and enter.

- Oct. 22 at 4:12 p.m. Middleton. Members processed a report of stolen medication.

- Oct. 23 at 8:35 a.m. Nictaux. Patrols attended a business where an individual was reported to be causing a disturbance and uttering threats.

- Oct. 23 at 12:21 p.m. Wilmot. Investigators delved into a report of fraud, perpetrated by parties known to the complainant.

- Oct. 23 at 1:45 p.m. Carleton Corner. RCMP inspected the scene of a break and enter and attempted theft of metal from a business.

- Oct. 23 at 2:08 a.m. Lawrencetown. Officers investigated a break and enter at a residence. The perpetrator had gained entry into the property and caused minor damage, but appeared not to have committed any theft.

- Oct. 23 at 4:10 p.m. Litchfield. Another complaint of dangerous driving in relation to a school bus was lodged. The driver was located and charges laid.

- Oct. 24 at 3:49 a.m. Margaretsville. A resident lodged a complaint of mischief: 2 youths were witnessed stealing road signs. Upon arrival, officers reported that the signs had been returned.

- Oct. 24 at 4:05 a.m. Clementsport. Patrols attended the scene of a single vehicle motor vehicle accident.

- Oct. 24 at 11:33 a.m. Highway 101 near Middleton. The detachment received a report of a white cube van driving erratically.

- Oct. 24 at 2:38 p.m. Meadowvale. Officers investigated a report of underage drinking.

- Oct. 24 at 3:01 p.m. West Paradise. A theft over $5000 reported. No further details were offered.

- Oct. 25 at 1:28 a.m. Nictaux. A motor vehicle accident involving a single over-turned vehicle in flame was called in to the detachment. The driver had fled the scene. The fire was extinguished by local firefighters. Several hours later, the owner of the vehicle contacted authorities to report the vehicle stolen. The matter remains under investigation.

- Oct. 25 at 6:56 a.m. Lequille. Members investigated a report of break and enter at a residence, and theft under $5000. Two firearms were missing from the scene, as were miscellaneous other items.

- Oct. 25 at 11:19 a.m. Middleton. A complaint of a missing person was later dismissed when the missing individual arrived home.

- Oct. 25 at 5:42 p.m. Nictaux. Officers explored a report of possible fraud. An individual had telephoned claiming the complainant had won a vacation. In order to claim the prize, the ‘winner’ would be required to give a Visa number and pay an administration fee.

- Oct. 26 at 12:06 a.m. Nictaux. Patrols rushed to the scene of a possible impaired driver.

- Oct. 26 at 1:17 a.m. Port Lorne. Upon arrival, members were unable to locate a reported female lying in the road beside the Port Lorne Fire Department.

- Oct. 26 at 2:25 a.m. Lequille. Officers later located in hospital the driver and passenger of a vehicle found on its roof, totaled, with no one present.

- Oct. 26 at 11:58 a.m. Torbrook. RCMP investigated an assault and damage to property involving parties known to each other.

- Oct. 26 at 12:54 p.m. A motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles resulted in minor to no damage, and no injuries.

- Oct. 26 3:06 p.m. Nictaux. In the course of investigation of a missing persons complaint, members located the two individuals in question and returned them to their homes.

- Oct. 26 at 5:49 p.m. Williamston. Patrolling members located the individuals who had been reported to be shooting fireworks out the window of a moving vehicle. The parties surrendered their remaining arsenal to the investigating officers.

- Oct. 26 at 8:31 p.m. Springfield. A break and enter into a residence was reported. The entry had caused damage to the property, but it appeared that no theft had occurred.

- Oct. 26 at 3:00 a.m. Nictaux. A driver stopped for a burned out license plate lamp was found to be both driving without a license and the subject of an arrest warrant. The individual was arrested, and the vehicle towed. The subject was later released on documentation for appearance in court, and a separate charge for driving without a license was laid.

- Oct. 27 at 4:15 a.m. East of Middleton. The driver of an RCMP patrol vehicle responding to a 911 call lost control of his vehicle. Damage to the vehicle was sufficient that the vehicle will have to be replaced. The officer was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries.
