MLA has many questions ready for fall session
Continuing physician shortages, school board funding, the looming crisis in the lobster fishery and road conditions are among the issues that Shelburne County MLA Sterling Belliveau intends to address when the House of Assembly opens for the fall session this Thursday.

“The questions are in the hopper,” said Belliveau, who was lobbying last week for Natural Resources Minister David Morse for improvements to eroded shorelines in Shelburne County.

“It had been requested some time ago that armor stone be placed at the Hawk on Cape Sable Island to alleviate the eroding beach,” he said “Residents and homeowners in the area are growing increasingly concerned that their properties face great risk with each passing storm as the beach continues to erode.”

Belliveau has also been approached for assistance in the area of West Green Harbour as the recent Hurricane Kyle washed the beach back on the Shore Road.

“Armor stone is desperately needed for these areas,” says Belliveau. “The Conservative band-aid approaches are no longer acceptable. These beaches are eroding and armor stone retainer walls are the most logical and strategic way of alleviating concerns of area residents.”
