Poverty Walk

October 20 to 26 Bill Knowlton will be walking to Halifax to raise awareness of poverty. Come out and walk a distance with him, encourage him along the way, and sign one of the post cards he will be delivering to the Premier that demands a budget line specifically for poverty reduction. Harvest Supper

October 23 All Saints ACW will be holding their Annual Harvest Supper Thursday, Oct. 23 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at All Saints Church Hall, Pleasant Street, Kingston. Menu: ham, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple crisp. Cost: Adults - $ 8. Children - $ 4. Family rates are available. There will be take out.

Middleton Farmers' Market

October 24 Market held every Friday from 2 to 6 PM on Commercial St in Middleton (across from Town Hall). Produce, meats, breads, goodies, crafts - all from the Valley. Musical entertainment. Support Local.

Big breakfast

October 25 Come for breakfast at the Middleton Curling Club, 6 King St., from 8 to 11 a.m. A community favorite.

Bridgetown Market

October 25 As long as the weather permits, the Bridgetown Market will operate on Saturday mornings. Table and space for vendors is $5. Space only is $3. Cribbage

October 25 Middleton Legion Branch 001 hosts the “Joseph Hudon Memorial Cribbage Tournament” with registration at 12:00 noon, play starts at 1 p.m. Guaranteed 1st place prize of $500.00 Canteen available. Members and guests welcome. Must be 19 years of age. Call 825-4751 for more info.

Rummage Sale

October 25 Rosemary Chapter IODE Rummage Sale, Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the NSCC, Middleton campus. This bi-yearly event not only is a fundraiser for the chapter, but is a service to the community. Monies from the sale of goods go to charitable work throughout the Annapolis Valley and beyond. The IODE is a Canadian women’s charitable organization.

Coffee and Crafts

Dance

Benefit

October 26 Variety / Benefit Show for Sharon Nogler (of Valley Drug Mart Kingston), at Kingston Lion’s Hall, 2-4 p.m. Free will offering, all proceeds for Sharon’s medical costs. Performing are Rob and Brad Jamieson and Friends, Old Country, and Taylor Express of Digby.

October 26 The Annapolis Valley Men’s Gospel Choir will present a musical service at the Clarence Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Free will offering. Everyone welcome.

Dance

October 31 Focus will perform at the Clementsport Legion starting at 9:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for costumes.

Community Lunch

October 31 The Women’s Place is hosting free community lunches the last Friday of each month. Our next session will be October 31 at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The topic will be the support program for children with special needs and their families, Bright Beginnings. All are welcome to attend. Variety Concert

November 1 There will be a Variety Concert featuring Gospel and inspirational music to be held at the Middleton Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. This special program will feature Old Country, the Middleton Baptist Male Quartet, New Song, El Sheddai, Irene Clark, and many other musicians from the Central Valley area. Free will offering. Money will be used to assist in sending a mission team to Kenya in June 2009, and for the new Middleton Christian Radio Station planned for this area. Come and Sing along.

November 1 From 2 to 4 p.m. Clarence Church Aid Society, Christmas tea and sale at church vestry. Craft, embroidery and bake table. Tea $5 adults, 12 years and under $2.50.

Chinese Auction

November 1 A Chinese Auction will be held on November 1 at the Christian Fellowship Centre, corner of Highway 1 and Dodge Road. Doors open at 9 a.m. Draws to start at 1 p.m. sharp. Canteen with tea, coffee, etc available. Almost all items new. Funds for Wilmot Baptist Church.

November 1 Fall Harvest Casserole supper, Parker Hall, Victoria Vale, November 1 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sponsored by Victoria Vale Baptist Church. Free will offering.

November 2 Men’s Buffett Breakfast at the Port George Rec Centre, November 2 from 8 to 10 a.m. Everyone welcome.

Christmas Craft Fair

November 2 Everyone is invited to a Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Kings District High School. Crafters and artisans all on one level. Door prizes, draw auction, bake table, and canteen services provided by Lake Paul Volunteer Fire Dept. Admission $2 for adults and children under 12 free. Sponsored by the West Kings Band Parent Association.

Scrabble

November 4 Middleton Scrabble Club plays at the Rosa M. Harvey Library at 6:30 p.m. (1st Tues. of each month). On inclement nights, please check in p.m. at the Library (825-4835), to see if they will be open. All welcome.

Save the Ferry

November 4 Ferry service is necessary for the region’s economic survival. Gateway project needed to achieve this. Save the ferry rally is set for November 4 at 7 p.m., Desmond Piers Theatre, 68 Cornwallis Park.

Fall Fair

November 8 The Ecumenical Fall Fair will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Craft and bake tables from different local churches. Door prizes. Coffee and coffee cake will be served. Admission to Fair is free but Food Bank donations would be appreciated.

Seniors Party

November 12 Bridgetown and Area Seniors Party at Bridgetown Baptist Church on Monday, Nov. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Music, Fellowship, Food and Chatter.

Roast Beef Supper

November 12 Wilmot Baptist Church Annual Roast Beef Supper to be held on November 12 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Roast beef, vegetables and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Tea and Coffee Adults $10. Children 12 and under $5.

Dutch Auction

November 12 Digby Area Learning Association is hosting their annual Christmas Dutch Auction, November 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Digby Legion. Come join us for a fun and exciting evening and don't forget to bring in a Christmas item to be acutioned. All funds raised will be used for on-going expenses at the Digby Area Education Centre.
