Kingston benefits from night on the town

Kingston’s downtown development committee is once again inviting the public to attend its annual fall fundraising dinner October 18 at the Kingston Legion.

The event, now in its sixth year, has helped raise funds for a host of structural and aesthetic improvements made to Kingston’s downtown core since the committee formed.

“I think we have accomplished a great deal in that time,” says committee chairwoman Muriel Craig, who also sits on the Kingston village commission.

“We have had great support from the community and it really shows by how much we have been able to do over the years.”

Some of the improvements madeinclude the addition of new parking lots and sidewalks on Main Street, the installation of decorative lighting standards and several landscaping projects that have brought a touch of greenery and flowers to downtown. The committee also contributed to property enhancements at the Kingston Visitor Information Centre.

Tickets for this year’s dinner are $20 and will include a roast pork dinner and local entertainment by the Pine Ridge Middle School band. There will be a pie auction, jelly cupboard fundraiser and a return of the popular quilt draw.

Funds raised at the event will be used to purchase outdoor Christmas decorations for the village.

Tickets can be purchased at the village commission office or by contacting Craig at 765-8605.
