RCMP conducting checkpoints over Thanksgiving weekend
Enforcement will target seat belt usage, impaired driving and other violations
Western Traffic Services and RCMP members in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby counties will be conducting various checkpoints throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, from Friday, Oct. 10 to Monday, Oct. 13.
The main focus of the checkpoints will be on seat belt enforcement, impaired driving and other Motor Vehicle Act violations.
The RCMP says there will be zero tolerance and violators can expect to receive summary offence tickets when offences are observed.
The RCMP says the purpose of these checkpoints is to reduce the number of serious and fatal crashes on roadways by targeting the leading causes of these crashes. Western Traffic Services is asking for the cooperation of the motoring public to ensure this Thanksgiving weekend is safe and crash free.
