MAJCAN, Richard Allan. It was with great sadness and regret that we announced the passing Saturday, September 27, 2008, of Richard Allen Majcan, age 48, of Crossfield, Alberta, who was born in New Glasgow, NS, November 4, 1959. Rick succumbed to head injuries, sustained while operating heavy equipment, on a job site outside Edmonton, Alberta, Monday, September 22, 2008. Rick was an employee of Bantrel Constructors, which was contracted by Petro Canada. Richard is survived by his son, Logan (Irricana, Alberta); Mom, Rita Ramsay, Brooklyn; brothers, Thomas (Susan), Dartmouth; Tony (Sherri), Innisfail, Alberta; Joe (Sally), Ellershouse; Dave (Heather), Poplar Grove; Paul (Heather), Dartmouth; Bruce (Emily) Ramsay, Musquodobit; Peter Ramsay, Toronto, Ontario; sister, Bev (Gary Pitts) Rafuse, Calgary; many nephews and nieces throughout Canada. That big smile, helping attitude and his welcoming character made him special to all he touched. Rick loved hunting, fishing, and his favorite beer was Olands. He will be missed and never forgotten. Rick was flown home Thursday, October 2, 2008. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 3, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral Mass was 10 am, Saturday, October 4, 2008, in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Fr. Michael Walsh officiated. Interment was held in St. John's Parish Cemetery, Wiley Ave., Windsor, followed by a reception at St. John's Parish Hall. Alfred Allen Walsh – 77, of Kentville, passed away at home, Saturday, September 27, 2008. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late George and Lena (Newcombe) Walsh. He retired from farming and also worked at various jobs throughout the community. He enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Stevens; four sons, Gary Stevens, New Minas; Peter (Rachel) Stevens, New Minas; Wayne Walsh, Kentville; Lorne Stevens, Kamloops, BC; four grandchildren, Amanda Stevens, Angela Reid, Tyler Walsh and Nellie Atwell; one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jerry Reid. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation, by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Robert Billings officiated. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Richard Allan Graves – 53, of Kentville, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Kentville as the result of injuries sustained in a house fire. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John and Reta Graves. He worked most of his life on various farms throughout the area. He enjoyed watching sports, especially wrestling. He is survived by a son, Scott, Cambridge; two sisters, Donna Graves and Barbara Young, both of Berwick; eight brothers, Eugene (Brenda), John (Minnie), Robert, Michael and Ronald (Carol), all of Berwick; Walter (Dolly), New Brunswick; Stephen, Halifax; Harry, Billtown; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Malcolm and Gladys Graves and Charles and Lavinia Graves; two brothers, Gary and Edgar. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, and there will be no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Neil Armstrong officiating. MULLEN, Elwood, 73, a native of Easton, Digby County, died in Montreal on Sept. 26, 2008.. Funeral service and burial in Montreal on Oct. 2.
