Run for One Planet runners coming to Yarmouth
The Run for One Planet team of Matt Hill and Stephanie Tait is making its way to southwestern Nova Scotia and is scheduled to be in Yarmouth Oct. 14.
Run for One Planet is a year-long ultra-distance event that has the runners travelling from coast to coast and back again promoting environmental awareness, raising money and encouraging people to take action to help the planet.

Speaking from Halifax on Tuesday afternoon, Hill said they seem to be succeeding in getting the message out about the need for people to do their part in environmental protection.

He and Tait began their journey in Vancouver in May with the aim of doing a marathon each per running day.

“It’s connecting with the pavement, but it’s really about connecting with people,” he said.

The pair hopes to raise a million dollars, money to be used to help launch further environmental initiatives.

Referring to their experience so far, Hill said, “We’ve met some absolutely incredible people.”

The plan is for the Run for One Planet runners to finish next spring in Vancouver, where they started.

Given how people have responded to the project so far, Hill said, “It’s really confirmed for Steph and myself that we’re out here for the right reasons.”
