Two male youths from Yarmouth were taken into custody Thursday night at gunpoint following a two-vehicle heist that started in Yarmouth, ended in Sable River, and involved a motor vehicle accident in between.
The incident started on Main Street in Yarmouth at approximately 8:30 p.m. when a black 2003 Ford F-150 was reported stolen. A police advisory was dispatched to all surrounding counties to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
While patrolling Highway 103, Barrington RCMP were advised of a single vehicle accident just east of Exit 29 in Barrington involving the stolen vehicle. Police arrives on the scene to find the two suspects had taken a vehicle belonging to a woman who had stopped to help them.
Shelburne RCMP located the stolen vehicle near Exit 27, and pursued the vehicle on Highway 103, through several streets in Shelburne and then back on the 103 highway eastbound to Sable River, where “a high risk vehicle stop was executed” and the two teens were arrested.
The two were taken into custody. Several Criminal Code charges are pending. The matter is still under investigation by the Shelburne, Barrington and Yarmouth RCMP detachments.
