After the mainland fair cleared away and the crowds disappeared following the July 1 celebrations in Weymouth, a couple of Canada geese showed up in front of Sissiboo Landing.
In no hurry to move on, the pair settled into their new residence. However one of the two was killed and the second one seemed to have an injured wing and was unable to fly.

The lone goose has been a constant companion to Sissiboo Landing's coordinator Jeanne Nesbit all summer and has managed to live off the land around the center. Its only source of annoyance has been a nearby cat but the goose has avoided its clutches.

The question is now that autumn has arrived, what will happen to the goose when other geese fly south overhead?

His name is Fred, he has a friend who goes to feed him each day. He's a loved little guy and has grown accustomed to some people... but when strangers come around he's quick to fly away. No one's seen him for a few days and he's very missed!
